Hey all,
First time on here. I’m from Ireland, and probably Wigan’s biggest Irish supporter there is. Have followed them for years and have been watching nearly all their games on live crappy internet streams.
I know it’s a bit cheeky being my first post on the forum and all, but I need someone’s help. I’m looking to see Wigan finally play in person and unfortunately the only game I can make is the away game to Stoke on the 22nd of May. I have even convinced 4 of my friends who i’m slowly converting to Wigan fans to come :D . However as its an away game, I understand that Season ticket holders get first preference of tickets and then they go on general sale what’s left over right? My only problem is, I live in another country so can’t pop down the ticket office and I can’t buy them online cause i’ve no previous ticket booking history as this would be my first time seeing the latics in action. I have bought things from the online shop before but don’t think that counts.
Anyway as I’m afraid I won’t get any tickets at all, this is my last attempt I gather. I’m looking for a genuine season ticket holder that would be so good enough to get my 5 tickets (seated together) for the game and send them on to me. So if anyone would be willing to do so, can they PM me and we’l discuss things further.
Thanks all, and sorry I know its a cheeky first post asking for tickets but i’m mad to see them play.
I think you might come stuck here pal because away games are often one ticket per season ticket holder. If they make it to general sale then good luck to you pal i hope you manage to make it
you could probably ring up when they are on general sale and book them using somebody elses name and house who have booking history and send them to the house and then pick them up from the game but it might be different for the stoke game as its only two weeks off and they still arent on sale. hope you manage to get them anyway mate good luck
i had a discussion about the last game at stoke last night -from what i am being told alot of people are up for this game for a number of reasons – it could be our premier league swan song or it might be a ‘need the points game’ aka sheff utd, or just a celebration of a seventh year in the big time,
the private coach ;) operators are being asked about going, my mrs and daughter have already booked on deckos fun bus and that is full with talk of another.
i think if this is the case there could be a ticket shortage, its stokes last game as well remember and they could well be parading the FA cup in front of their own fans at the end of what has been quite a good season for them -probably euro qualification –
they tend to let away fans have about 2500, but we have not taken very many to stoke since the championship promotion season so they may not offer us that amount especially if the demand is high from their own – we may only get a 1000 or so.
Isn’t there a minimum or percentage of capacity ruling for the EPL games?
I know we hardly sell our allocation but when you see for example united at Chelsea, they have the full top and bottom tier from that horrible corner that we always end up in, to just short of goals. If the clubs could restrict visiting supporters allocation, surely chelsea would fill all the seating behind the goals when playing Man U?
That means we must be offered 2759, its up to the visiting club then, I presume to decide what allocation they want to take based on expected following.
They must realise that this will sell out in both ends.
Taken from official football league rules handbook
Unless otherwise agreed by the Board or between the Clubs, each Home Club shall make available to its Visiting Club:
3,000 tickets or, if the capacity of the Home Club’s ground is less than 30,000, such number of tickets as is equal to 10 per cent. of its ground capacity; and, whether or not that allocation is taken up, tickets for a minimum of 10 per cent. of the Home Club’s disabled spectator accommodation.
At least half of the tickets referred to in Rule J.7 above must be made available on a sale or return basis and the balance must be ordered by the Visiting Club (subject to the conditions set out in Rule C.80) at least 4 weeks before the League Match to which they relate.
LMB, I assume you mean Gecko’s fun bus? Will you be on it?
if you are in the inner circle you get to call him decko but yes its the same person, well gekko actually.
i know its my usual excuse, but no, i am away that weekend, the pull of cornish pasties and rattler cider has is a greater draw for me than the loonies from stoke.
i am trying to qualify for a fishing match with a 100k first prize, and the cornish pasties i refer to are pastie size/shape carp.

LMB – shame you won’t be there. We could have had a really sensible debate on the way down (well, until Thelwall) and a really daft one on the way back.
I suppose I could discuss Strictly or Corrie with the female element of your family in your absence ;)
