Start by stopping the season now, with no promotions or relegation.

When the season does eventually kick off, my solution would be (using the Championship as the example):

Leeds would start with +37 points advantage over Barnsley, and their goals for & against (56 to 30) would carry over to the new league table.

Hence WBA would get a 36 point start / plus their GD.
Knob End would get a 22 point start / plus their GD.
Wigan Ath 7 point start / plus GD.
Barnsley zero points / plus GD.

You get my drift. That way everybody starts where we left off and has more than a fair chance to prove a point or play their way out of trouble.

That said: STAY SAFE EVERYBODY :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Not for me. I just see two options which are.

1 Null and Void. It’s not that important. Start a new season only when it’s totally safe and ethical to do so

2 Wait until it’s safe and complete this season at your own venues then start a new shortened but agreed season. Everyone knows the rules before they start that one.

Both sadly won’t involve us being in attendance

Interesting suggestion lostock, I hadn’t heard that one before. I think one of the main objections would be the whole who played who home and away with it though. Who knows how they will do it, I think we will just need to be patient and even when it does I suspect we will be watching on Latics tv! Hopefully they will make it free.

The more I think about it, the more I come to the conclusion that the season has to end as of now, and start from scratch again when it is safe to do so.

The simple solution would be to end it – null & void!! But think about the poor liverpool fans who’ve waited 30 years for a title.

If Liverpool were just handed the prem trophy they wouldn’t feel like theyve won anything anyway.
Thered be no presentation, no parties and certainly no open top bus.
All null and void for me and start preparations for next season now that way everyone knows where they stand.

We can come up with suggestions till we are blue in the face but the 20 Prem clubs know they must finish this season or pay the tv money back which is already spent. Its tv who will determine what happens. But if the season is void there will be so many lawsuits brought that the start of next season will be impossible. This is gonna change the game at greed level big time.

Think it will change the game at all levels. With the potential of no crowds next season how the hell will clubs like ours survive?

            Great point Roy

And another factor will be Germany and Spain are getting ready to resume so the pressure is on the richest league in the world to be able to do the same.

Let Germany and Spain get on with it.
If the only reason is money and the idea we have to restart because we are ‘the richest league in the world’, then even more reason for abandoning the season.

IMO you can’t play games at neutral venues. It isn’t just the crowd that gives you an advantage at home, it’s everything involved in the preparation. Games have to be played at each sides home ground or they can’t be played at all. You can’t change the rules mid-season. Not only that, players that were injured are now no longer injured so the parameters have changed again. It is better for example to play Spurs with no Kane and Son but now you’re playing them with those two players fully fit and at a neutral ground.

I said at the start of all this, void it and pretend it never happened. I can’t see any European competition being played next year anyway with all the travel involved so no issues there. A few sides that may have been promoted will complain as will Liverpool but this is a situation where money and football are insignificant no matter how much some clubs/players think the world revolves around them.

Very well said Mr Egg, I’m with you totally on this.

Had the likes of Sky and BT sport come out and said they would also write the season off we could have maybe called it a day but they haven’t and as of yet dont look like they will so the season will be finished. Too many ramifications if we dont. If the tv revenue has to be paid back it will bankrupt some clubs and it’s the Premier Leagues own fault. Too reliant now on the mega bucks they get from TV. The only way I see it not being played out now is if theres another surge in cases of infection after lockdown is eased. Something has to change after this coz the TV companies seem to have too much say in all this.

I don’t understand what TV are expecting back. Sure there’s nothing in the contract that states a pandemic wipes out football we get our money back. If there is a refund it must be a partial refund based on games left likewise it’s not in sky’s interest to cut off the hand that feeds you
