Exactly Lowey. Force majeure I believe it’s called, and as you say I doubt sky would want to lose the PL coverage they have.
7 May 2020 at 12:33 am #186139I don’t understand what TV are expecting back. Sure there’s nothing in the contract that states a pandemic wipes out football we get our money back. If there is a refund it must be a partial refund based on games left likewise it’s not in sky’s interest to cut off the hand that feeds youTotally agree and that’s why I’m so surprised they have not made any statements or offered anything. This could have been sorted weeks ago but the Prem and the FA and EFL all seem hell bent on completing the season and to me it appears to be under pressure to do so.
9 May 2020 at 6:54 pm #186157But if the season is void there will be so many lawsuits brought that the start of next season will be impossible. This is gonna change the game at greed level big time. There’s already lawsuits in progress at the step3-7 of non league that the FA null and voided within about a week and a half of the lockdown
The main problems being that a) it was decided with practically no consultation with the clubs who would be affected b) after saying they wanted a uniform approach throughout non league they allowed steps 1 & 2 to come to a different solution of their own choosing & c) after saying that the use the current tables or PPG were more unfair than voiding they allowed leagues below step 7 to decide whether to void, use current tables or PPG to decide on final placings and relegation/promotion and even provided them with a formula that they said would allow for a fair calculation
In short the FA have made a complete and total cock up of the whole thing.
17 May 2020 at 7:23 pm #186180portant. Start a new season only when it’s totally safe and ethical to do so2 Wait until it’s safe and complete this season at your own venues then start a new shortened but agreed season. Everyone knows the rules before they start that one.
I fully support this option (and really don’t understand the need to complicate matters by voiding the current season or agreeing to end the current season when everyone hasn’t played the same schedules).
Finish out the year/schedule. Shorten next year – likely to just playing everyone 1 time vs home and away, luck of the draw who you get at home. Hopefully things will be back to normal enough that cutting next season’s schedule by half gets everything back ‘in line’. Also, doing that, everyone knows the rules going into the season/is on the same footing.
That should avoid most of the lawsuits as well. Only real issues are player contracts possibly running out; but, it’s really just like adding an extra transfer window in season.
18 May 2020 at 1:30 pm #186182West Ham will be relegated if the season is finished based on the weighted points per game scenario. That won’t happen then.
