How I saw it:
Were Sunderland brilliant ? No
Were we poor ? Yes
We had a make shift defence that was altered mid-game again but for me, were was our ball playing midfielder?????. Naylor has always been a holding midfielder a safe guard in front of the defence he’s certainly not someone to control the game, for me he can’t play that centre mid role. Then, Power has a free kick from the left, Sunderland put a 1 man wall up, the smallest Sunderland player on the pitch in this wall so what does Power do , hits him in the chest, and that sums him up for the night. Plus his 40yard cross field pass straight into touch for no apparent reason.
McClean a wing back ? not a chance, he doesn’t have the legs for 90minutes to track back so we were left totally exposed at the back.
Then when losing he moves Fletcher out wide and Keane in the middle.
My questions would have been
Why didn’t Broadhead get used?
Why Cousins or Shinnie start someone to orchestrate from the middle?. And let’s not forget Sunderland passed it well, they played at a far higher tempo something we couldn’t deal with.
I’m hoping Kolo is mix n matching to get an idea what’s needed. If he is it’s coming at a costly price.
The main problem he’s got right now is, he has to bring 1 or 2 loanee centre halfs just to replace injured players so his Jan budget might be blown on steadying the ship not improving.
Look let’s face it, we all knew the squad wasn’t good enough and Richardson came out publicly and said he thought the squad was good enough to hold its own in the championshipWrong oh so wrong, one man and his dog saw last year that team wasn’t good enough for the step up.
So back to it, were was Broadhead ?did we get warned not to use him by Everton because he’s sold elsewere or even to Sunderland ? Makes you think but by all accounts he’s 100% gone31 December 2022 at 10:52 am #197766Simms has gone back from Sunderland, Broadhead to Sunderland ? Watch this space
31 December 2022 at 12:46 pm #197768Just to emphasise how unfair it was to not back Richardson in the Summer and expect him to perform miracles with the current squad…………6 of the players who started against Sunderland were playing for us in admin season when we barely avoided relegation to league 2
31 December 2022 at 1:09 pm #197769Hang on a sec it was Richardson who said HE preferred to give the players a chance in the Championship rather than bring in players.
If this wasn’t his choice not to buy then he wouldn’t have said that. His loyalty to certain players was his downfall. The Jan transfer will be so crucial.
Let’s not forget we’ve all our centre halfs injured bar 1, 2 main forwards and no recognised left back. Bad luck is also playing a huge part with our current form.I’m behind the manager because with Richardson we’d have definitely gone down, at least the owners are trying to rectify it before it happened
31 December 2022 at 1:19 pm #197770Really are in cuckoo land if you think Richardson didn’t want to strengthen.
Managers notoriously have to toe the line and spout out what the owners/chairmen need them to say

Mutty…do us a favour and fuck off!
Nobody cares what you think. You offer nothing in terms of ‘banter’ so do one.
Hurrah
Would Mutty be on here had we won?
I’m still waiting for my answer. I gave you mine months ago. Why do you constantly post on a fans forum page that has NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do you or the club you support?
I second the comment by Egg.
1 January 2023 at 11:24 am #197775If you spent less time obsessing over me and a more time helping blokes like Horc out with Guess the Gate when his laptop crashed (instead of me having to do it) you’d add more value to this site and the other one.
Grow up.
1 January 2023 at 2:49 pm #197776Oh don’t flatter yourself. I’m not obsessed with you by any stretch of the imagination or anybody else for that matter. Just answer a question, like I answered yours all that time ago. It can’t be that problematic.

This kind of post (Especially from a moderator) is why i became an observer rather than a contributor and stopped posting on here years ago. I Have been around this site since it’s inception (granted, under 3 different guises) and lost interest when the posters lost the ability to debate. Shame really because the creche that is vital offers nothing either.
1 January 2023 at 10:43 pm #197783No seriously your blaming it on the manager after he’s been in charge for 5 minutes. We have a fairly large injury list which includes 4 defenders.
We have players on loan without ever getting a chance.
These were sent on loan by Richardson. Were the fcuk is Scully ??.
We’ve 2 aging forwards both injured. My only criticism of Kolo Toure against Sunderland was no play maker in the middle.
I think we’re gonna see a min of 6 players in 6 out Shinnie been one Broadhead been another.
If we go down so be it but you cannot put the blame on KT blame the owners and Richardson for not sorting it out in the summer transfer window thinking we had a squad good enough to stay up.2 January 2023 at 8:20 am #197791There are rumours circulating that Toure is looking at bringing Humphrys, Jordan Jones & McGrath back from their loan spells. The latter can most certainly fill that playmaker role.
2 January 2023 at 5:35 pm #197793We need them back but don’t need Toure. He has lost the players and his brand of football is as mind numbingly poor as Richardson, Cooks and Caldwell’s. Another variation of the same old 1 up top.
Just get shut and give Graham Barrow a bash. Couldn’t be any worse could it.2 January 2023 at 8:30 pm #197794This doesn’t sound like a manager who was happy with his squad.
This Leam line from after the first two games still sticks in my mind.
It was a forewarning that wasn’t heeded.#WAFC pic.twitter.com/AmZJ5nTs2i

14 February 2023 at 10:23 am #197750Never seen an injured player who was off the pitch roll on the pitch to get a game stopped before.
Seen it plenty of times.
