I thought Roger had a half decent game considering he was slightly out of position. None of the glaring errors were his and he scored a cracking goal.

He was terrible in the first half, he played a back pass that damn near cost us a goal within about 5/10 minutes, admittedly he did score and he got better in the second half, but the first 45 he was truly woeful, i lost count of how many times he lost the ball/couldn’t get rid etc.

I can’t blame him though, he’s not a LWB by any stretch of the imagination, asked to do a job that he clearly wasn’t comfortable with. If anything he’s more of a similar player to McCarthy or McArthur by trade.

If we go down, and if he’s played in his natural position, i reckon he could be a stand out player next season!

…ROGER THE DOGGER WELL OUT OF HIS DEPTH AT LEFT BACK AND FOR ME HE SHOULD HAVE SWAPPED HIM WITH STAM.

Any shred of credibility your comment might have had ended right there.[/quote]
Nope, a username where Gravy is spelt with an ie did that.

You didn’t watch the same game then. He was shocking last night and played a part in two goals conceded. Headless chicken springs to mind!!

I dont know what game you were watching Jimmy but from what I saw he scored , was crossing the ball in comfortably on his left foot, made a couple of decent tackles and even beat a man to a header.

Judging off the above alone and providing he can continue to hit a decent cross now and then he has already gone way above Jeany B in my estimations.

1st goal, great ball and a well timed run and pin point volley, would have done most defences. 2nd goal Caldwell gave ball away and the third goal was badly defended by all and sundry.

Don’t think he had a shocker and he played better than I expected.

In the first half he made some individual contributions but he simply didn’t fit into the team.

It was horrible to watch him starting runs and then pulling up short. He didn’t know what he was meant to be doing. He’s an action player who really doesn’t understand Martinez’ patient passing style and positional play at all.

And he was throwing himself into headers and sliding into rash tackles. People stepped over him, leaving him lying on the ground. But he could have hurt himself or someone else.

It made me appreciate how well drilled the team usually is, and just how well Figueroa and Beausejour execute Martinez’ instructions in defence. And how well Maloney and Beausejour work together to create space for Beausejour to run into and cross. It will be hard to replace.

I agree with the fact that Beasajour and Maloney work well together and Maloney struggled last night because of that imo. Considering that was his first outing in that position and he hasn’t had the time on the field like the other players, I think he did okay.

I’m not blaming Espinoza. Martinez, from a very limited choice, asked him to play there, and he did his best. But he’s not a natural defender.

I’d like to have been at Martinez’ briefing session to hear his tactical talk. I imagine the players are given detailed instructions on what to do when in possession and when not.

Espinoza was looking to Martinez for advice throughout the first half. He really was unsure what he was supposed to be doing.

I would say that when in possession, Caldwell and Scharner stayed at the back, with Espinoza and Boyce pushing up level with Watson in midfield.

Defending, I thought they fell into a back four with Watson just ahead of them to offer protection. But it’s a fluid formation.

Hey babbie, wait for the flak from ‘Bobby’s Girls’
If the guy would show just a bit of emotion? Score or concede a goal and he stands there arms folded. What message does this send to the players? lets have a manger with some passion for the game He must be the only person in the ground who doesn’t show any emotion watching an emotive game.

So if he did a Neil Warnock or Di Canio he’d get your respect?

Unless the players are watching him instead of watching what’s happening on the pitch, I’d guess that how Martinez behaves sends absolutely no message out to them.

I’d say that Pulis is the most comical of the managers. Surely the players would laugh at him if they had the chance.

Martinez hit a fist pump (international sign of celebration) high in to the sky after both goals yesterday so his argument is irrelevant.

Martinez can pump his fists up when & were he pleases, the fact remains we have had another poor season in the league yet again, the championship is not the end of the world as we know it, but under martinez it could well be.

Some of your comments above gave me a chuckle

Yes he did score so hats off to him for that…. but that was the only thing he did all night, other than one good cross into the box that i can recall. No quality about him what so ever. IMO!

Each to their own i suppose..
