I wouldn’t be suprised if Dave Whelan has stumped up the cash for the appeal at least. WTF has it come from if not?
It certainley won’t come from the appeal money, that seems to have dried up now the season has finished.
We need to get advertising it again as Mr Tarbucks wall won’t be high enough to front his house with only 300 bricks.

I think we may struggle with the takeover until Friday is out the way. Who buys a business (or anything) when they don’t know how much it costs to run?

If you’re buying a car that has two options, 1MPG or 100MPG but they can’t tell you which is which at the time then you won’t buy it until they can. If it turns out it’s the 1MPG option then your whole budget needs adjusting.

Bit of a daft example but you get the idea. Buy the club in the championship and it looks a far better prospect even if it’s to sell players than in L1 with some of the best players able to leave for frig all.

Mentioned this earlier in the i understand why they’re twitchy post.

Sensible thing to do from the administrators is not push on and rule bidders out but wait until the conclusion of the appeal hopefully next week.

You are definitely right there, but the price is the same no matter where we are, but the running costs would be less in L1.
Have the SC any plans to relaunch or push the appeal a bit more, there has only been £60 donated in the last 24hrs, tht won’t pay for the QC to wash his wig!!

We are living dangerously here, because if we don’t secure a buyer before this Friday we could well have already seen our last match involving a professional club in Wigan.

One of the administrators said on Wednesday that:

“The basis of sale is that contracts have to be exchange by 31st of July. Proceeds (£10 MILLION) then must held in escrow pending completion.”

That basically means that the bidders must place the £10 MILLION into a legal holding account on or before the 31st of July. If this does not happen I suspect that the EFL can simply kick us out of the EFL altogether. As they need proof that we can complete the 2020-21 season.

Also, we will then be liquidated to pay creditors, and there will be no time at all to form a phoenix club as all non-leagues for the 2020-21 season are already full.

This will save them losing the appeal.

Lets all keep our fingers crossed its a vital week

Thankfully horc the appeal money is nothing to do with us. Hopefully it starts to kick back up again when people get paid this week

              Any fundraising ideas welcome.

Bolton were in administration in 2 different seasons and close season so why are we being afforded no time whatsoever. What is the problem with us. Do we really deserve this treatment. I am scared shitless.

They went into administration in May 2019. I can’t find how much they owed but they did owe £1.2m to HMRC who tried to issue a winding up order to them several times.

AFAIA they have yet to be punished for failing to fulfill their fixtures, something which our administrators said would see is kicked out of the Football League.

I’m really not confident of the appeal and think that the circumstances could actually work against us. The owners claimed covid was the reason which I presume under force majeure would be pretty tough to argue against, but the fact they bought us during covid and all the crap that has come out since means we will struggle to argue that. If the club is going in the intentions of blaming the sale on the efl and this supposed bet then I can’t see us winning that either.

Gerald Krasner said last week that he is speaking to Au Yeung before Friday and I think a lot will depend on what he says there.

Friday the 31st will not bring about a final judgement.
This is the day when our QC will put forward our case for appeal; and will more than likely take a few hours and contain lots of reference to legal cases that will have to be taken into full consideration before any jury / independent committee can pass fair judgement on our situation. It could take a further 3/4 weeks before a decision is arrived at.
How have I come to this conclusion: well, earlier this year I was involved in an appeal against a contract award worth £8.5m. It was four weeks after the appeal that the verdict was given !

However, can’t help feel that we will be stuffed

Everything seems to be stacked against us Ali. 50 years loving this fabulous club that has given us absolutely everything seems to be coming to an end at rapid pace. We all know that sooner or later the truth will out and these pathetic dodgy pricks who have used the club for some kind of money manoeuvring or illegal monetary gains will face action. Trouble is we could be defunct by then and it will be too late. How can we be in this mess when we have tried to do things correctly. What is worse nobody seems to give a damn that we have been treated this way. We are affiliated like everyone else to the FA so why are they not interested in what’s gone on and demanding answers. Emotions are affecting my rationality and I’m probably way off the mark but I cant for the life of me understand any of this .

Yes Ste, I completely agree !
We are the victim and the FA / EFL should show it’s support by helping us through this extraordinary set of circumstances.

I was wondering whether you knew if the Supporters Club were planning any action to boost it.
I’ve just been paid, so I’ll be chucking a few more quid their way this week.

I suspect more clubs have been used by owners that are either fraudsters or money launderers. Wigan will be the tip of the iceberg and the EFL board will be shitting themselves if another club is found out to have effectively been a money laundering outlet for foreign crooks and goes the same way once they are deemed no longer fit for that purpose. To allow one owner to pass the test could be seen as an oversight, but when you have half a dozen or more, it begins to smell quite rotten to the core.

I am afraid we are Wigan mate.
We are not Sheff Weds or Derby or QPR or Leeds or Southampton or even Bolton.
We were never wanted in their club, never welcomed in their club.
The EFL and the FA stink as much as the Greed League and their Sky paymasters.
Rotten to the core the lot of them.
If we get through this they are sure going to know about it. They should know better than to get Latics fans backs!
We will never let anything be forgotten. Nothing will ever be in the past.
