Congratulations on demonstrating that even after 57 years of watching football, it is still possible to know absolutely nothing about the game.

You were confused with N’Zogbia being brought on to play on the left in a 4-4-2 formation? If you play with two strikers mulling around the box – a big bloke and a little one, what is the aim of a wide player? If a left footed player plays on the left, what is he able to do? I’ll not answer these for you.

Over the past twelve months, Rodallega and N’Zogbia have played on the ‘wrong’ wings, allowing them to cut inside and score goals. They have each scored more goals than the man playing up the middle. N’Zogbia probably never played on the right until last season, and has suddenly scored more goals in a Premier League season than he ever has done before.

The manager gets slates for not changing it, and then you slate him for changing it.

it seems he knows a little more than you give him credit for and you know infinitely less than you are trying to lead us to beleive in your put down of wilfuckham, but then again i dont expect anything less from martinez’s supporters.
not for the first time standish you have typed hypbole without doing any research let me point out a couple of your erroneous inaccuracy’s

nzogbia scored 5 league and 2 cup goals last season-

in 2005-2006 he scored 6 league and 2 cup goals for newcastle + 7 assists –
out of the 7 goals for us, 4(3 league,1 cup) were from cutting in from the right.

rodalegga scored 10 league goals 0(NONE) were as a result of cutting in from the left – 1 penalty and the main point that exposes both yours and el cids theory – the other 9 goals were one long shot from the right(villa)the rest were headers,tap-ins, rounding the goalkeeper all from center field when he had been moved in to the center from the left (i have used jayt’s match reports off here for my confirmation)

so 17 goals total between them and 4 resulted from the system you favour.
the evidence seems to point to playing rodelegga up front – but martinez and the self proclaimed enlightened ones seem not to see what most of his detractors do.

i will counter your claim that wilfuckam despite watching 57 years “knows nothing about the game” and offer in return – after watching martinez and his tactics for 14 months he knows nothing about how to either entertain or win a football match..

I thought we played rubbish first half last night, better second half. Thought Gomez and N’zogbia were our best players on the night. McArthur needs to stop thinking he’s Ray Wilkins and Thomas just needs to stop.

After the match, I had a few pints with my mates and a good laugh and a giggle as usual. This morning, back in work as usual.

I have a suggestion for all you lot who get all apoplectic and hate what you’re watching – don’t f****** watch it, no-one is forcing you.

There was an old fella sat in front of me last night who I’d never seen before. He thinks the football we play would be really good to watch if only we were good enough to do it faster. I agree with that.

Good call Griff. Nobody is forced to watch! Sit at home like most folk on here. Worst team in 57 years? Absolute shite. Ive been going 29 and to compare this to the Kenny Swain era is laughable. Jewells last season was woeful. We are operating in a league beyond our financial means with the worst crowds in it by some distance. FFS. What do you lot expect?

At what point do you call us a success story? Champions league?

I am a bit surprised at you Griff…you usually post constructive comments on here but that was a little unfair imho.

There are now many hundreds if not thousands of fans who feel that fed up with the dull, toothless performances they have witnessed for far too long that they have taken your advice and don’t F****** watch anymore!

If it carries on much longer it wont be long before the day comes at the DW when there are more away fans in than home fans.

That’s a bit like saying if my aunty had balls she’d be my uncle….we simply are not good enough to play the style Martinez wants, if we were we would be another Arsenal and that is never going to happen.

Last night, apart from the last few minutes was simply awful to watch. A very poor Nobend team came, did the basics and we simply couldn’t create decent chances. Two mistakes by them gave us the win. If their defender had closed down Gomez more quickly, he wouldn’t have recovered his poor first touch and got his shot off, and had their defender brought down NZogbia, which I was surprised he didn’t, then even the most ardent Martinez followers would be on here today calling for his head.

I think some fans have watched this garbage for so long they have got conditioned into thinking this is the norm.

So Mr Martinez, I don’t think the taxi is outside beeping it’s horn just yet, but rest assurred, no matter what Mr Whelan may say, I’ll bet he is keeping an eye on any new managers becoming available, and has got the yellow pages handy with the Taxi listings page dog earred.

LMB – hyperbole at times maybe, but N’Zogbia did not score six league and two cup goals for Newcastle in 2005-2006 season. He actually only scored five league goals, and nothing in either cup. He only scored nine in four and a half seasons at Newcastle, so his seven last season stacks up pretty well against that. I stand by my statement that he scored more last season than in any other season.

Perhaps you misconstrued my post. I wasn’t insinuating that Rodallega and N’Zogbia cut in and continually score goals from out wide, nor was I saying that all their goals come from that position. What I was trying to explain is that by putting a player on the ‘wrong’ side, you give him the opportunity to cut in and get it on his stronger foot, rather than getting to the byline and crossing. (Perhaps I should have said get shots on goal rather than score goals).

Rodallega scored four goals last season in open play whilst playing up the middle. He scored five in games where he played wide left (plus one penalty).

So no, I am not a football expert, nor have I ever professed to be, but I do understand why a left footer plays on the right when you have one up front, and why he plays on the left when it’s 4-4-2.

Griff, that has hit the nail on the head. That is the problem. We are that slow and that deliberate in our build up play, we allow the opposition time to get men behind the ball and close up shop

Look what happened when we attacked with pace, last night.

Blackpool’s ground holds about 12,000, doesn’t it? I think they’ve sold around 11,000 season tickets. Don’t even try and defend our support. It’s shite. For whatever reason….it’s shit. No use trying to pretend otherwise, Landgate.

No really, I was being constructive. I’d rather have 2000 suppporting the team than 20000 moaning all the time. And I mean, ALL the time.
