How the hell do you expect Moore to score with his back to goal 30 yds out ???…….We are a goalscorers graveyard. How many times since he arrived has he had and balls whipped in from the flanks ?……Agree with cup winners,Jacobs/Massey didn’t show up again and to criticize a 17yr old is bullshit….Cook had more than a fair crack and we are getting progressively worse….really must make a change.
1 September 2019 at 3:17 pm #180886. As decent as Moore is in the air I’ve still not seen him have a shot on target in the games he’s played. That’s because at the moment were suffering from big man syndrome were everything is slung at him at head height.
I’ve lost count how many times he’s gone up, won it and nodded it down to fresh air. Our players need to read it and get nearer if that’s how Cook intends use him, zip-lobbing it every 5 mins.1 September 2019 at 3:22 pm #180887Exactly. All he does is receive with his back to goal. Limits our playing style and pointless winning headers with no support. He isn’t gonna get in behind so unless style changes and we can get crosses in that’s an obvious limitation. Massey has hardly done a pre season so isn’t up to his usual standards and Lowe is settling in. Nobody’s criticising 17 year olds. I believe Gelhardt in particular will become a very good player. Its simply a sign of our squad depth that we are forced to play them.
1 September 2019 at 7:19 pm #180891Moore is very quick but all we do is play aimless longball’s. He didn’t get much success yesterday. But on the occasions he does win a flick-on, as mentioned, there’s no one running on.
Last 20 minutes would’ve been ideal to stick Moore and Garner up top together. But yet again If was the same like for like substitutions. Gelhardt should also have been on much earlier. Massey completely off his game and Jacobs marked out of the game.
So many problems all over the field. We’re a team in disarray and look relegation certainties under current management. No more excuses.
1 September 2019 at 8:46 pm #180892I’m sorry whether you like it or not, Gelhart looked miles out and of his depth. Is he going to make it at this level? I surely hope he does, there’s plenty time for him to develop.
The same posters who have criticized my comments are probably the same ones who’d have said, why didn’t Cook bring young Joffy on for the last 25-30 minutes, if he hadn’t come on. Sorry his confidence must be shot after that cameo, couldn’t get round one man and as I said nearly cost us the game. Hope he does get more chances and the boy Weir too who in my opinion is the better prospect. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!1 September 2019 at 8:52 pm #180893Gelhart out his depth I’m afraid felt so sorry for him. Nearly cost us a point trying to dribble the ball out just outside our box and Marshall made a good save.
Goes to show how fans can want things that arn’t there.Exactly, out of our box, brought on to tighten things up at the back I guess, ffs.
Are you not going to mention the passes William’s misplaced throughout the game, is he out his depth ?, and Massey and Jacob’s ? their lacklustre performances ?.
It’s amazing that within a p1ss poor performance by the majority of our squad, at home against a team we need to beat to stay up you highlight the performance of a young lads and he’s entrance into an awful game to watch and his 30 (not 20) minutes performance.I would have like to have seen Gelhardt playing off the shoulder of Moore nodding things down. I get the point, Moore is tall but does every ball have to be aerial ?. There were times when we could have crossed it along the floor or cutback but were now focused on Sunday football “Hit the big lad up there!!”
But if your gonna put blame on Gehardt’s 30 minutes then I’m sorry but you must have been watching the doc leaves grow over the duggy.
Theres only one person out his depth and I think its about time we got shut as the rots already set. With a trip to Fulham and Charlton soon to come I just hope the break is beneficial to us.
Wanna bet ? Chris Houghton to Stoke, they’ll not mess around in the hope things get better[/quote]Hold on a minute who the fuck is blaming Gelhart for anything? He came on and didn’t particularly play well and did look out his depth for the time he played. Williams by the way was MoM for me and many others. Yes gave the ball away a few times but always wanted it and drove us forward and more importantly gave 110% for us.
Don’t get carried away by Gelharts potential it isn’t going to be enough to change our season. The form of all those you have criticized will thoough. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!1 September 2019 at 10:43 pm #180894Gelhardt lost the ball in a dangerous position trying to break away. But he did more in his 15-20 minutes than Massey or Jacobs. Broke through once with little support and played an inch perfect pass for Lowe that would’ve put him in on goal.
Williams had a mediocre game. Though still better than anonymous Morsy. That said Williams should be starting as he’s shown glimpses. Overall it was a turgid performance reminiscent of the very worst of the Joyce era.
2 September 2019 at 12:35 pm #180897Could the problem be that, we have a squad of “ok” players and we dont have that one or two bit of quality that can change a game.
They all seem to me to be cut from the same cloth, a good bunch of grafters but in our case it’ssimply not enough.
I think Lowe has that in his locker and will show it in time to come but will it be under Cooks reign? I having doubts.
Cook has tried everything in his powers and has been left mystified as to why their leaving it in the training field.I think it’s time for a change. I’m not 100% sure it’s the answer getting shut of the manager or whether the problem actually lies with the quality of players but when the manager has exhausted all options then a fresh approach may be are only option left and if not judging by our start to the season we will be facing the drop once again.
