Just a thought, how can the circus that is the EFL give us a 12 point deduction before the true reason for our collapse is uncovered. Let’s say we are relegated due to losing the 12 points then months down the line it is proven that this was a betting scam where does the EFL and the football league pyramid go from there. They cannot then reinstate us to the championship. Sure to christ no penalty can be taken against us at present until the many investigations that will be carried out over this are concluded. It’s the only way this can be played out. In fact the EFL should themselves be carrying out the biggest investigation of all.

      Your spot on nuneaton

I heard today the lawyer appointed by the administration is one of the best sports lawyers in the country and was the person involved in the EFL rules and regulations
And i was told that as long as an investigation is on going into our situation the EFL cannot deduct the 12 points untill the investigation is completed
Now dont shoot the messenger im only saying what i have been told also the investigation will take some time to do

No it would have to be sorted well in advanced of the start of next season. Fixtures have to be generated to avoid clashing with local events and other clubs/sports. If they deduct 12 points the chances of us sorting it out before the start of next season will be impossible.

I’m more worried about a new owner been in place otherwise next season won’t be happening. Right now the 12 point deduction is irrelevant. The most important things is to find a genuine owner who can stabilise the club over night.
I’m like you, fuming but what has happened has happened and who is right or wrong is not the priority.

I think the next owner will be foreign but can you trust them after this fiasco? I know I cant

What about DW funding Sharpe ? he can’t take it with him

If the EFL sanction the 12 point deduction then they are are complicit in underwriting the alleged betting scam, thus aiding the criminals and punishing the innocent. Surely, it would be a powerful statement to support the innocent victim (and member of it’s own association) until proven otherwise. Okay, they might look like they have egg on their face if they suspend their own ruling; but will win more respect and credibility in the long run by trying to rectify their own negligence, and thus potentially frustrating any criminal gains from the whole sorry saga.

So, EFL you need to grow a set of balls; not kick Wigan Athletic in theirs !!!!!!!!

If the EFL deduct the 12 points I can see them getting bombarded with law suits.. Why can they not say O.K. seeing there appears to be extenuating circumstances we will put the 12 point deduction on hold until this matter is sorted out ? Seems the logical thing to do. They have suspended points deductions in the past. Bolton still, to my knowledge, not had any points deducted for the cancelled game .

Blackpool fan here. A few personal observations :

                1. I think you should get yourself organised to fight. The EFL are already enmeshed in possible litigation cases with several clubs, and have other disputes pending with several more. I doubt that they really have the capacity or will to fight hard on the case load they already have. Set yourselves up to be difficult.

                2. Thank God Harvey has gone and been replaced by Parry. You might get more common sense, more empathy, and a hell of a lot less hubris. However, some of Harvey’s apparatchiks remain in the organisation and you will encounter their organisational and cultural inertia before too long.

                3. Do your homework and your own due diligence, if you can. Our experience is that they are an organisation who don’t seem to fully understand their own rules. Nor do they apply them consistently, when they can be persuaded to apply them at all. They don’t respond well to challenge, but they often appear embarrassed by it.

                4. I think time is currently on your side. They will want a quick resolution so that they can get on with preparing for next season with some certainty about which teams are playing where. It may make them more amenable to a compromise solution in the short term than they will be later on. So I would want to get one now, if I were you.

                5. Use your MP well. She is articulate, photogenic, appears to want to be involved and she has some clout. We would have loved to have MPs like that. In fact, Parliament as a whole (Damian Collins in particular) are increasingly waking up to how rotten an edifice English football is. Milk that for all you are worth.

All personal views and I seek to speak for no-one else. Good luck.

On behalf of all Wigan fans basilrobbie, I would like to thank you for your posts on both this thread & another thread you posted on. You more than anyone will understand our current plight having been through something similar with your own club & The Oystons. Once again I thank you for your kind words of support at this very worrying time.

Hopefully an independent committee may be more lenient

A Club can appeal against a decision of the Board to impose a 12-point deduction under the EFL Regulation 12.3.10, and the appeal will be heard by an independent panel appointed by Sports Resolutions. That independent panel will determine whether the relevant Insolvency Event(s) arose

solely as a result of a Force Majeure event, caused by and resulted directly from circumstances, other than normal business risks, over which the Club could not reasonably be expected to have controlled

No way is this appeal committee independent. They’ve never ever overturned an EFL decision in the past. They are just EFL stooges and we will be stitched up good and proper.

There’s no evidence that any money passed between Choi and this new company. He’s simply transferred it to himself so as not to affect IEC share price. Choi has obvs run out of money during Covid and has had to engineer a way out. The news that Robinson and Williams are available for 1.5 million if we go down is heartbreaking.
