Good do that one.
23 January 2012 at 2:46 am #79159Regarding Paul Jewell’s appointment i would say yes that was his remit, without a doubt. It’s called ambition. What do you think he said to him?
Roberto is not “a joke”. I seem to remember his doing a splendid job down at swansea. Was he not also the first manager to turn over a so called “big four” club?? He has his faults, yes. He also has his qualities.
If you are so keen on getting rid, please post a list of potential replacements who, first of all would take the Wigan job and secondly work within the restraints of the club.
This i am looking forward to.
Firstly at this level of management Roberto has definately proved himself to be a joke. Piss poor signings shit tactics no plan B no idea how to influence a game with substitutions and post match interviews were he rolls out the same pathetic lame excuses. Secondly Not sure what wages Bob earns but I bet after turning down Villa and signing a new contract he will be on a good screw. I would imagine there are a few managers out there who would take the job as for a few more months we are a Premiership club. And how would you or I ever know who would take the job??? we can only speculate because you don’t know unless you ask.
23 January 2012 at 2:55 am #79161Swindon, Notts County bad results yeah for sure. 9 changes from the normal starting 11 tho wasn’t it for the Swindon game?As for Crystal palace & Blackpool, don’t make me laugh, what gives us the god given right to be beating these teams. Is this the same Crystal Palace team that knocked Manchester United out of the cup?
And Blackpool beat Liverpool home and away last season?
Please correct me if i am wrong. Please think before you post tripe fella.Nedber I’m correcting you because from what you’ve posted you talk utter bollocks. How you can defend Bob after the last 3 seasons is beyond me. Do you actually go to games??? because if you do and you still think he’s doing a good job you no nothing about football
23 January 2012 at 2:58 am #79162I speak regularly to around 20 latics fans (who actually attend games) and all are happy with him at the helm.
A very important point Royston. Far too many internet fans get their expert opinions from live feeds and radio commentary. I`d much rather listen to the ones who make the effort to go to games rather than people who get hysterical while sat in the comfort of their armchair[/quote]
I think you will find most people on here do actually go to the games. I know I do which is why I can say hand on heart Bob has to go.

Did he get Swansea promoted? NO
Did PJ get Wigan promoted? YES
so what,s your point? yes Bob did beat a top 4 club but he also has the clubs record defeats in his locker.Against Swindon he showed every Latics fan utter contempt.
Every aftermatch interview is an embarrassment with him talking the same shite every week.If you want to back him then good on you marrer thats your choice but dont slag off those who have seen through him and have realised he is a terrible manager.I have tried to stay in his camp but i can no longer justify sticking up for him.He could have tried to arrest the problems but he either wont or cant and the playing staff may have found change to their suiting something his stubborness has not afforded them.23 January 2012 at 3:00 am #79164Sorry, your right and i’m wrong. I know nothing about football and you know everything. I don’t go to any games and never have done and you go to all the games. You are ace.

I suppose you did it from your phone at the game

I reckon if you took a vote on it it would be unanimous that he stayed. A club legend who bleeds blue and white and is loyal to the end. He has managed us to arguably the greatest victories in our history and though we continue to struggle in a league we don’t belong in he has retained his integrity throughout. Name me a manager this decade who has kept a club of our size in the Prem for 3 consecutive years whilst cutting the wage bill.
I share the frustration from some of our performances but am realistic to see that our task season in season out is nigh on impossible. Quite simply the Town struggles to muster enough interest to sustain a club at this level at this juncture in our history.
23 January 2012 at 3:36 am #79170Did he get Swansea promoted? NODid PJ get Wigan promoted? YES
Sorry Nuneaton, I am a pedant…
Jewell took Wigan to 8th in his first season in the Championship.
Martinez also took Swansea to 8th in his first season in the Championship.
Jewell kept Wigan in the Premier League for two seasons, surviving relegation on the final day in his second season – Martinez did exactly the same.
Had Martinez managed Swansea for another season in the Championship, or Jewell managed Wigan for another year in the Premier League – who knows?
23 January 2012 at 3:47 am #79171First of all Nuneaton, my point if you read the initial post again was if you want the manager out DO SOMETHING about it instead of hiding behind your keyboard slagging the manager off. You will also find that i haven’t said anywhere that i am backing the manager, i did say however that the Chairman of the club has always timed his hiring and firing of managers perfectly so i suppose we should trust him on this one aswell.
I do think there is ore chance of us avoiding relegation with a stable ship. By all means get rid of the manager, but i have yet to hear 1 decent recommendation for a replacement from anybody. Please enlighten us all. And the “anybody but Roberto” option is not allowed!!23 January 2012 at 3:53 am #79172Did he get Swansea promoted? NO

Thing is Standish it took Swansea 2 seasons to get promoted after Bob so how can he take credit for it? Had he another season at the Swans he may have took them down as well who knows? Look we all know he,s under restrictions and has cut the wage bill but changing tactics and strategy costs nowt and im convinced if he went to Mr Whelan and probably does, changes could have been made where neccessary.I have stuck by him until the cup fiasco when i felt really let down something that has rarely happened to me in all the years ive supported the club. And the last straw has been his idiotic interviews postmatch which are embarrassing to say the least.

I’ve done all the travelling in years gone by even under Kenny Swain I used to go with my Dad home and away and used to enjoy it even though we were shit. But things change and now I don’t go to more than a few away games. If you went on Saturday fair play to you because under Bob I find it difficult to go to the DW with a season ticket.

Nuneaton – I know he can’t claim to have got them promoted and that’s why I said ‘Had Martinez managed Swansea for another season in the Championship, or Jewell managed Wigan for another year in the Premier League – who knows?’He could have taken them up, or he could as easily have taken them down.
23 January 2012 at 4:21 pm #79214Right. This is the solution.
It is getting quite boring on here with multiple threads ranting and raving about Martinez, Whelan etc etc etc out.
It’s easy, nail your colours to the mast instead of hiding behind your gay computer screens.
Do as they do in Spain, if you are not happy with the regeime take your white hankerchief to the game and wave it above your head. SIMPLE.
It will be interesting to see how many “fans” bottle it.
For the record i can see no reason to get rid at this stage, what will be will be as disapointed as i am with the whole situation.
Keep the faith.I dont have a white hankerchief, will they be provided?

Yes….
unfortunately people will have to collect them themselves. I believe they will be available from the suppliers at Ewood Park from 3.00pm on 4th Feb (no prior orders will be allowed I’m afraid)….so be there or miss the opportunity.
