The absent reporter notes another heart sink after noon, but not sinking to the depths of this time last week.

It started off with the inevitable flurry of niggling and hassling by Nickie, oh NickiePow-ell of their keeper as he thumped a header in on 2 minutes from a corner. It resulted in an unspectacular but essential goal.

Some of us hoped that Sir Ben would comeback and score another goal for us, into his own net, after all he owes us, but it wasn’t to be. Even coming on as sub he couldn’t work his magic this time.

It was a game as mesmerising as the Villa game, where possession was equally split. Wigan peppered the Forest goal with 19 shots, but again all to no avail.

A letter has been drafted to the FA to ask if we can get rid of goal posts and cross bars such is the frequency that we hit the wood work.

Will Grigg kindled his fire with a perfectly taken penalty. And you’ll never see a more clear cut penalty awarded.

Sam made a wayward pass and sadly didn’t track back to retrieve the mess he’d created … they scored. Soddit. As if Sam hadn’t done enough, not only did he get a yellow card (number 2) but he created the penalty they were given.

Still we couldn’t convert any more from the corners. Forest didn’t like the idea of losing to Wigan. Wigan of all people. So without influencing the ref at all they surrounded, possibly stuffed a ‘bung’ in his pocket and reminded him of the last last minute rubbish decision Wigan had against them at Forest 2 seasons ago. He agreed that there was no good reason to give a penalty, so gave it The reason eventually given was ‘what ever any one could think of’ (rule 15b; Penalty section). IT was. Walton, Southampton style saved but the sods put it in on the rebound.

It was a well earnt point but mighty disappointing not to get 3. Overall We looked good and should have got all the points. All the same, it wasn’t as disappointing as leaving Villa, even if I wasn’t there to leave today. Fair summary. MoM: Kipre, James, Robinson and Jacobs.

In summary, in the first half we were brilliant, and overall it was a crackin’ game. Get mamamcannaum on.

The omens are good, and we’re not in the relegation zone yet. 12th.

      Fair assessment??
