There’s an interview with this guy in the Metro paper today who says his new book has this quote in from Xavi.
“Of the 95% of people who love football, only 2% understand it”
Does he read this board??
The 95% believe footballers are robots and should perform every time they go on the pitch.
On the other hand why should we understand it? We pay our money to go to football, meet our friends, experience a multitude of emotions and have 90 mins of release from our daily life.
We don’t need to understand it do we?
That’s one of the (many) things wrong with the modern game. You don’t have to “understand” it.

The game has become far too complex with so many sub-plots. Trying to make it an intellectual exercise is ridiculous, not to say ironic considering the IQ of most of those who play professionally.
