1 May 2019 at 10:31 am #178543Yep,
I would agree.
Time to give that Charlie Jolley a run out – he’s been banging them in as regularly (if not more so) than Geldhart!!!
I,d go with that give him a first team appearance to reward the lad for his fabulous achievements.
1 May 2019 at 12:36 pm #178544I’m sure I read somewhere that Gelhardt is away with England this week and won’t be involved on Sunday. If,for once, my memory is correct it would be nice to see Jolley given Gelhardt’s place on the bench.

He has banged in 41 goals in total this season.
1 May 2019 at 5:10 pm #178546Should have been 42 as he missed a penalty
Bloody rubbish Jolley!
Seriously though, I really hope he plays on Sunday, he deserves it.

2 May 2019 at 1:59 am #178551In 13 years time our young Tics will be battering Barcelona at the Neu Camp
Unless Messi’s still playing, then we’ll take a draw.
2 May 2019 at 2:22 am #178553Though the achievements of our young teams are impressive it has to be remembered that they play at a lower category of football than the Premier league sides and are therefore not exposed week in, week out to top quality opposition. In the FA youth cup when we were pitted against a Category one side we lost 2 nil. Obviously Gelhardt and Jolley are real talents. However, the step up from playing 16 and 17 year olds to men’s football is massive as we all know.
2 May 2019 at 2:29 am #178554Callum Lang seems to have managed two seasons in League 2 for two different clubs and has scored goals at both. Since Oldham now have nothing to play for, could he not have been brought back from his loan to feature in this weekend’s game as well?
2 May 2019 at 2:39 am #178556I’d love to see Lang back as well but I think he’ll enjoy the plaudits at Oldham’s last home game as he’s popular there as well.
We’ll watch him go next season like a reencarnated Mike Newell, but better!2 May 2019 at 11:22 am #178561I would love to see the academy /dev squads especially the 18s on the pitch before or maybe half time so the fans can can give them a deserved ovation. Imagine what it would mean to young players and hopefully the drive to continue playing for the fabulous Wigan Athletic.
2 May 2019 at 11:33 am #178562Cook has done exactly what he said he would do and started to blood the young lads now we are safe. He will do the same thing Sunday and in pre season I expect.
The academy needs to be upgraded asap so these lads can start to challenge themselves further.

3 May 2019 at 9:26 pm #178590Just read that Callum Lang has ended up as Oldham’s top scorer this year – even though he’s been played all over the place (not just as striker). Hope he gets his chance in pre-season next year to show what he’s worth too.
Article about him here too: https://thefootballmancave.com/2019/05/05/callum-lang-a-fond-farewell-to-the-wigan-athletic-loanee/
