A. One camp on here know we are shite, fancy a change of manager, and want this dross we have to watch to stop. They can see the reality of the situation, which is we have not moved on AT ALL in the 4 seasons Martinez has been manager. Have a look for yourself, 2-3 seasons ago we were still moaning about the same things we are moaning about now. Some will argue about the club being more stable….yes, but the squad is worse off, as we’ve sold any quality we’ve had and spent jack-shit on re-strengthening! Club is financially better off, yet on the pitch we are rubbish. It’s so boring to watch. This group thinks we need a change of manager.
B. The other camp still thinks the sun shines out of the manager’s arse. mainly because he once played for us, was a fairly average lower league player with the odd fancy trick, and was one of the ‘three amigo’s’. Oh, and he’s a nice guy. Because of all this, they think he can do no wrong and gladly swallow everything he says, even his crap excuses after yet another defeat.
What group are YOU in?

She ain’t, it’s not going to happen, and the reason that is is because she has brad Pitt. Getting this yet? As one of the worlds premier women she is coveted by a lot of guys, but you get nowhere near her because she can pick and choose what when and who she wants to be with. So, like the rest of the normal world we move on and operate in the circles we can with the hand we have been dealt. I am a Wigan fan as I am from Wigan. From beech hill. I don’t support united,Everton, Liverpool or even Celtic like half the lads I grew up with. It takes a certain kind of individual to keep supporting something that isn’t going well, sometimes like a marriage analogy and wanting angelina as the wife. I’m guessing that if you can drive and own a car, you might want to swap your Citroen Saxo for an Aston Martin Vanquish perhaps? These are things that are in your everyday life amongst others that most would feel could be better, but with resources available cannot be obtained. Do you mention these as many times as you mention wigans manager? Doubt it, and the reason you don’t is because the things I mentioned above (or at least a step toward them) can be achieved by self betterment, qualifications etc, and when not attained there is only one person to blame and that’s you. With Wigan, you had no input in martinez’s appointment and therefore can criticise it apportioning blame for what you perceive as lack of trying. I accept he may have a lack of ability and certainly resources, but not effort.
As for category B, I’m not his biggest fan, and he has made some strange decisions it would seem, but he is the guy who is trying. We should be loyal to him, he is the front man for all our hopes with this club. And until he goes in a week, a year, 5 years whatever, we should show the respect the position he holds generates. When I’m at work, if one person started questioning and analysing everything I did, without knowing why I was doing it I would not be happy. Imagine having a job where there are thousands doing the same to you every week. Christ, if we brought Pep Guardiola in as a replacement and he sold your favourite player you would be on here moaning. Some folk seem to want a bad result to moan.
So in summary, I don’t think there is anything wrong with healthy debate about games, results, managerial decisions, but not simple vitriol and hatred.
If you want the unachievable, I suggest you bin the wife and head to California with a bottle of white to jolies pad, start supporting L A Galaxy, sell the Citroen Saxo for £1400 and use it to cover the first two weeks of a single monthly payment on the Aston, and get yourself in the European Champions circle of operation, because it is that easy!
If not, I suggest you become a little bit more realistic in your outlook, and keep your head, watching your own team, and enjoying the successes we have, and laugh off the defeats without it becoming despair.

They support the manager and the team, because let’s be honest, that’s what they’ve always done. Even when things aren’t going well, they’re reserved enough not to have a screaming hissy fit and claim the club is going to the dogs only to make a u-turn and retract it all a few months later.
The reason they support the manager is they like what he is trying to achieve at the club in terms of the playing style he’s attempting to bring in, and how he has developed the youth system which previous managers had deliberately neglected.
They don’t pour scorn on or take everything he says in his press conferences to heart as they are savvy enough to realise that his words are soundbites and in the most part used as a PR exercise or to try and boost a player’s or players’ morale.

Posters who write up long pieces telling everyone how long they have been going, how they were there throughout all the hard times in the hope of getting some well earned kudos. The same posters who for years and years have changed their minds constantly week in week out. The same posters who have tried their best to be a big name on messageboards for years and years but when it comes to it they just can`t play nicely and end up getting banned off site after site. And not just banned for anything but for using threatening behaviour (baseball bats), swearing, and to put the hundreds and thousands on the cake…banned for racism !

On here, theres the Marteenez ‘Bum Boys’…..who won’t have a word said against him. I’ve noticed a few posters have stopped coming on. Some of them have PM’d me and said ‘Your wasting your time arguing with them’.
They are right. But yeah, if you only want about 6 posters….carry on…
Truth is, and this isn’t a personal dig at ANY of them, the likes of JAYT, GRIFF, I’ve met them both, both decent chaps…..but we have DIFFERING OPINIONS. As far as I am concerned…..that’s fair enough. They like our manager…..I think he’s shite.
And at the end of the day, I will still be watching Latics when we are out of the Premiership…..so it doesn’t matter really, does it?
But all I am doing, is saying as I see it. I don’t enjoy this ever so slow passing style, where we hardly have any shots on goal. Sorry, it’s just not for me. I find it feckin boring and tedious, to be honest. It’s NOT what Barca do…..don’t be conned. Barca play at a higher tempo…..and have the quality to do it……hell, WE did it for a few games in the run in last season……so why not ALL the time?
But no, wasting my time, so I will take a sabbatical.
I have to say Dave, I’ve tried to defend you as much as I can but Mr Dastardly is absolutely right – you bend with the wind, from one extreme to the other.
And we built two camps three years ago. Darkside and Lightside, a light-hearted attempt to put people in the two categories you talked about. Interesting how those who thought of themselves as Lightsiders are/were generally the intelligent, good looking ones and the other side are gobshites who, despite having sensible arguments put to them, have to resort to calling the manager a Spanish Clown :/
Actually you’re right, Dave. 3 and a half years on and people still can’t see beyond a dodgy draw with a dodgy team selection when assessing the state of the club. Been to the training ground or read the club’s balance sheet lately? Says more about you lot than it does about the club.

By the way, I’m not completely sure that the lads on TNS were “begging” you to come back, not really how I read it, to be honest.

No, I don’t change from one extreme to the other. I genuinely thought in the summer we could make some progress. I quickly realised after about 3 games that no, we were shitter than ever. What am I supposed to do, deny it to myself and think we are brilliant? Why? Why do ANY of you do that?
