Reading one night into eighties I got there late. Gave a car park Mon a drink to let me dump the van anywhere. Latics surprisingly 3 Bart up as we were struggling that season. Reading fans all left early. My van blocking all the car park up. No sign of car park Mon. Reading fans in good humour as they knew we didn’t win 3 Bart away that often.
Singing Bow legged Chicken song at Fleetwood the day Colchester licked Leeds in the cup. Col Roughley had his Latics college type scarf nicked by a Fleetwood Skin Yed Mon.
LHL still has his Latics college type scarf complete with burn marks from the pallet stand fire at Lancaster City.Taking my younger brother to see Latics v Rochdale one cold December. He spent the entire game on the Shevvy End grass digging himself a hole to sit in and was so upset when he had to leave it behind at the final whistle.
Didn’t take him again.
Apologies for any non PC terminology; but this reflects that moment in time:How about those little blue three wheel invalid carriages that were aloud on the touch line at springy. As lads we used to call them Spaz Chariots ! When the football blasted into them, it must have been like landing back on earth in a space capsule.
Remember one incident coming of Springy at full time. One of these little blue carriages was navigating it’s way through the Spring crowd when four lads held onto the back of it and stopped it in its tracks. Th’owd Codger was revving like Fcuk and getting nowhere.
