Honestly, when you consider different aspects of the club, how things are going, and this, that, and the other, the club is in a hell of a mess at the moment. And can I just say, I’m normally fairly calm and relaxed if we get beat. I don’t tend to go home and sulk and ‘stew’ about it. But yesterday, I did. It was more the manner in which we capitulated that stunned me. Dare I say that, had Scholes early chance gone in, and that Fletcher one, we may have got done 6 or 7 nil? We just collapse. Big, big problems.

For the sake of briefness, I’ll put the points in a ‘bullet-point’ style.

      1. Team performances. We are being beaten ease. People will say “But it was 0-0 for an hour yesterday”. Yes, but that means we shipped FIVE goals in 30 minutes! That’s awful. United were well below par, and yet they still won with such ease, as we fell apart.

2.Disjointed. The team looks all over the place. It’s the back 4 for me that is not good enough. Figueroa looks a shadow of his former self, and the other 3, Melchiot included, don’t seem good enough to me.

      3. Selling all the best players. My oh my……isn’t it showing? How good would our midfield have been, if we’d had a pairing of Palacios and Cattermole? I am absolutely fed up of the fact that as soon as a player gets a bit of interest from other clubs, he’s on his way soon after. It’s going to see us relegated.

      6. Cheap Option Replacements. I’m absolutely fed up of us bringing in these players that either nobody has heard of, or who come from the Championship. We’ve had all this money, for Valencia, etc, and have done crap-all with it. For Pete’s sake, if we don’t bring some serious quality in, we’ll be down by Christmas, at this rate. There’s only a week or so left in the transfer window. I can’t see us making any great strides in that time, can you?

      7. Cheap Option Coaching Staff. It’s nice and sentimental that we have Martinez, Jones, and Barrow, at the club. But they’ve got sod all top flight experience. I’ve heard others touch on this, and I think they have a point. We got Barrow from Altrincham! Would any other Premiership club have recruited from so far down the ladder? No.

      8. Rent-A-Quote-Whelan. The guy has really p**sed me off. He’s always got something to say in a paper, and his recent comments, which apparently suggest thet we fans are actually PLEASED to see players leave, really are a joke. (I don’t know what fans he’s been talking to, do you?) And it’s said he says that Wigan’s still a rugby town, in his new book. The sooner this guy sells up and does one, the better. He may have saved us in the past, he may have got us to where we are, but he’s obviously lost the plot, now. I’ve heard people scoff at suggestions that he should “sell to the first Arab interested”, and I myself, had doubts. But the fact is, we are going to be left behind. Not by clubs like City, who are now LIGHT YEARS away from us, etc, but by clubs such as Stoke and possibly others like Hull. I can’t believe how our club is being run. It is so frustrating. Sell our best players, and replace them with untried shyte. I think that’s the top and bottom of it. No point pussy footing around.

The sooner Whelan f**ks off, the better.

Yeah but he’s right time will tell but most of the new signings don’t look up to Premier League football.

The only point I would argue with is blaming the back four for our problems. They are tried and tested at this level if I was casting blame it would be at the midfield. We play 5 there and it’s so easy to pass through us it’s frightening we get the run around even when we have an extra man. Some will say what do you expect against Man U but we also lost to Wolves and looked Very poor against a hard working Championship team.

The reason teams pass right through the midfield is because Gomes just stands there and watches them, he doesn’t track back and he doesn’t even attempt to tackle or close down. He wants too much time on the ball and then loses it too easily.

Diame did look like he could be a good signing. Let’s hope so.

The thing that worries me about Martinez is his faith in Jason Koumas – how many chances does this guy need? Steve Bruce knew he was no good. Scott Sinclair has shown miles more ability and desire in his brief appearances.

Boring Dave – live the dream, things could laways be worse. They wanted Fergie out at United once Dave. Until one of his now forgotten centre halves scored a goal at Crystal Palace to save his managerial career.

So you are HAPPY with how things are?

17 million for one player, 6 million for another, and bugger all re-invested?

“Live the dream”- What the hells all that about? This ‘Dream’ what people go on about won’t last much longer.

And isn’t it generally considered that it was Mark Robin’s goal, away at Nott’s Forest in the FA Cup in 1990 that saved Fergie, as they went on to play Palace in the Final, and won the replay due to a goal by left back, Lee Martin?

I still think we might scrape our way into 17th position though.

Looking at yesterdays Daily Mail and seeing an article on Whelan has left doubts. He says quite openly he regrets not buying Man Utd when offered, does this mean he regrets buying Wigan?

I don’t think he regrets buying us, how could he regret something that has given him such personal exposure. He isn’t exactly backward in coming forward when there is a TV camera around, is he?

He may however be thinking that he has created something he can no longer control.
It may just be growing too large and expensive for his personal wealth and too much work for someone of his advanced years.

I have a feeling he is on the look for another investor but is struggling to find the right one.

I don’t know how much he would be looking for, but I read that the Birmingham deal was in the region of £80M
