The most worrying thing for me is that there is just no leadership. Anywhere. None on the pitch-none from the bench. At 1-0 down we needed someone to pick the players up.
Same against Wolves. As soon as Scharner lost his man (for the millionth time) for their goal he should have been recieving the biggest rollocking of his life, yet he just sauntered back to the half-way line.

You make a very good point.
We do not have ANYBODY, dare I say, in the mould of a Kavanagh. Someone steely, hard as nails, who will pull people up by the scruff of their neck, if need be.
Honestly, when you consider different aspects of the club, how things are going, and this, that, and the other, the club is in a hell of a mess at the moment. And can I just say, I’m normally fairly calm and relaxed if we get beat. I don’t tend to go home and sulk and ‘stew’ about it. But yesterday, I did. It was more the manner in which we capitulated that stunned me. Dare I say that, had Scholes early chance gone in, and that Fletcher one, we may have got done 6 or 7 nil? We just collapse. Big, big problems.
For the sake of briefness, I’ll put the points in a ‘bullet-point’ style.
1. Team performances. We are being beaten ease. People will say “But it was 0-0 for an hour yesterday”. Yes, but that means we shipped FIVE goals in 30 minutes! That’s awful. United were well below par, and yet they still won with such ease, as we fell apart.
2.Disjointed. The team looks all over the place. It’s the back 4 for me that is not good enough. Figueroa looks a shadow of his former self, and the other 3, Melchiot included, don’t seem good enough to me.
3. Selling all the best players. My oh my……isn’t it showing? How good would our midfield have been, if we’d had a pairing of Palacios and Cattermole? I am absolutely fed up of the fact that as soon as a player gets a bit of interest from other clubs, he’s on his way soon after. It’s going to see us relegated.
6. Cheap Option Replacements. I’m absolutely fed up of us bringing in these players that either nobody has heard of, or who come from the Championship. We’ve had all this money, for Valencia, etc, and have done rubbish-all with it. For Pete’s sake, if we don’t bring some serious quality in, we’ll be down by Christmas, at this rate. There’s only a week or so left in the transfer window. I can’t see us making any great strides in that time, can you?
7. Cheap Option Coaching Staff. It’s nice and sentimental that we have Martinez, Jones, and Barrow, at the club. But they’ve got sod all top flight experience. I’ve heard others touch on this, and I think they have a point. We got Barrow from Altrincham! Would any other Premiership club have recruited from so far down the ladder? No.
8. Rent-A-Quote-Whelan. The guy has really p**sed me off. He’s always got something to say in a paper, and his recent comments, which apparently suggest thet we fans are actually PLEASED to see players leave, really are a joke. (I don’t know what fans he’s been talking to, do you?) And it’s said he says that Wigan’s still a rugby town, in his new book. The sooner this guy sells up and does one, the better. He may have saved us in the past, he may have got us to where we are, but he’s obviously lost the plot, now. I’ve heard people scoff at suggestions that he should “sell to the first Arab interested”, and I myself, had doubts. But the fact is, we are going to be left behind. Not by clubs like City, who are now LIGHT YEARS away from us, etc, but by clubs such as Stoke and possibly others like Hull. I can’t believe how our club is being run. It is so frustrating. Sell our best players, and replace them with untried shyte. I think that’s the top and bottom of it. No point pussy footing around.
If you read it, I challenge you to actually disagree with my points.
Difference is, I’m not on a hate campaign against our manager. I made several observations, and for you to now try and use the post AGAINST me (and that IS your intention) would actually suggest that you do not agree with the points I made?
Who’s moaning ?? You certainly were back then and I can rehash your doom and gloom relegation talk if you really want me to !! At least I dont or never did think we would go down this season !! Yeah I have a moan its in my nature and I fork out up front every season for a season ticket so I can moan all I want ! Dont forget I am from the ” Dark side ” !!
To those wanting Whelan out, be careful what you wish for. Yes, if Whelan goes, we might see someone come in and spend £10m+ on a top centre forward or something, but does anyone really believe unless we find a super-rich Arab or Latics fan from somewhere, that, for example ST’s will be £300 a year? There may well be more investment in the squad but plenty on here would soon be screaming “I’d go but them prices are crazy”
Abram- ignore Bob and his stirring efforts. I made the Whelan statements BEFORE I had seen our financial breakdown. It changed my opinion, and I appreciate he is keeping us stable, rather than doing a Portsmouth. (Note the date I made the thread)

Who’s moaning? You, and the rest of the “martinez out” brigade.
I wasn’t moaning. I made ‘observations’, that were true. But they are being addressed. The only part I would take back is the slating of Mr Whelan. I hadn’t seen the financial statistics at that point (supplied by Standish) and after reading them, it made me think he is actually running the club as best he can.
You see, you are pulling out these statements I made, and in all honesty, they are all quite valid. Or at least, WERE valid, at the time they were written. I am right.
he took  it furthur now phil he posted sh.te on my post about griffin?.
I found the ‘Big Cheese’ comment funny.
My other comments were with genuine sincerity.
You think I’m taking the p*ss? No, I’m really not.[/quote]
I have deleted that thread has i really do think it had the potential to get out of control(plus other members had flagged it)! Griff apologised and obviously its a sore subject to fil and bob and i really cannot see the point of raking over old coals!
