What is happening to this bloody country of ours, we’ll be stopped from going on sunbeds, using fake tan or even sunbathing next.
Can’t paint your faces black in this day and age and was a stupid thing to do.Spot on msrrer its the double standards that peeves me tho. You can only have white racists. Ethnics use the race card to suit when in fact racism is more prevalent between blacks and Asian groups. Gets on my tits.

So, because it’s a “tradition” that makes it OK and it should therefore be left to continue regardless in the same way fox hunting is for example…..
Can’t paint your faces black in this day and age and was a stupid thing to do.Exactly, and I suspect they knew exactly what they were doing by blacking up.
It can be argued there is racist connotations associated with this practice so not as harmless as some would like to believe.
The worlds gone mad, if Morris dancing is racist then I’m a f**kin Hippo! No one is saying Morris Dancing is racist.
Bollocks to em!
If these lot dont like the traditions of OUR country let them piss off elsewhere!

Okay supreme lefty luvvie Sammy; let’s try and ban the barbaric slaughter of halal meat in the UK. It’s not our tradition, but there would be an outcry if we attempted to interfere with the traditions of another culture. I for one would sign a national petition to stop the slaughter of halal meat.
As an Indian AND someone who has had an insight into the Morris world, it’s definitely not racist, but unless you know about Border Morris you could understand if uninformed people of any background get the wrong end of the stick (no pun intended).
What is wrong though is a traditional folk festivals banning it even though they know it’s not racist and normally sensible organisations like Respect saying the ban shows sensitivity when they too should know that there is no racist connotation.
What next, a black mime artist that isn’t allowed to white up?
