From day one in this pathetic league Latics have been up against it. We have seen the most ridiculous decisions over and over again.
This final insult to our club by Clattenburg is the final straw and the most diabolical cover up and act of cheating yet.
This referee should now be vilified on any future visit to New Springfield.
The multi millionaire thug Rooney as been cleared by this cheat.
Phil Dowd is well below what this man has done.
It is a total act of lies and deceit.
Video evidence that the world has seen can not even be used to sort the thug Rooney out.
Both Clattenburg and Rooney should both be treated with disrespect from every fan in the country especialy from WBA Wolves Blackpool etc who have all had this ridiculous type of cheating dealt on them.
Rooney.. forget this thug and dont even back him the next time he masquerades in his England shirt.
This greed infested league stinks and is rotten to the core.
What can we do about it folks? Banners and flags at the matches to show the world could be a start but knowing the media that wouldnt be shown on TV as these lot are in league with the lot of these corrupt cheats.

exactly the way i feel about it too
another example was picking a 25 man squad(blackpool) and being fined for using the players IN THAT SQUAD. Arsenal changed 8 players too face us at our place and they didnt even bat an eyelid, but a smaller club does it and they get fined its pathetic.
How can the ref seriously say that his decision was correct, it has really annoyed me this. It seems like every time we play a big club, its 11 vs 12. Scholes also had the most obvious booking with a tackle from behind but nothing given. The amount of times things like this has happened is appalling, the premier league and the fa needs a serious look at themselves. We did shoot ourselves in the foot in the match with terrible defending, but i believe we would have got AT LEAST a draw were rooney sent off which is what should have happened.
Another point, did you see clattenbourgh patting rooneys back after the foul having a laugh with him? what a disgrace, refs are meant to be authority figures on the pitch, not the players mates.

To a certain degree I agree about the points made about Clattenberg but why the vitirol towards Rooney
He committed a foul & got away very lightly – to call him a thug & say he shold be vilified by everyone when he puts on an England shirt because of it when we’ve had a player sent off this season for head-butting someone & have had players sent off for elbows, stamps & kicks in the past is a bit hypocritical if you ask me

To be honest regarding England, I couldn’t give a toss about the England team. Just another media enthused exercise of bulls*it. If It’s a World Cup or European Championships, I follow the Czech Republic. If they qualify, that is! Years ago, I worked in an office where everybody was jumping on the St Georges flag and ‘wearing your shirt’, bandwagon. So, I put up a Czech flag and went in with the Czech Republic shirt on.

Most actual ‘die hard’ fans amongst my mates, who support Everton, Liverpool, and Wigan, don’t give two hoots for the national side.

The FA are scared of the big clubs, so they pick on the smaller clubs. Fact.

            #60793

            Entirely agree Donny !
It will ruin English football, with it’s favouritism for so called “big” clubs, and a policy of greed is good ! Really annoyed today when Rooney was let off. It just about sums up the lack of justice for small clubs from weak lilly livered officials.

P.S are you from Chorley ?

well there you have it,just goes to show how corrupt the f.a and the premier league are,i wonder if it had been barton, bowyer would the out come have been the same. You see players who jump to win headers but use there arms to jump higher get sent off but rooney did it with full intent gets away with it,the f.a bang on about racism, respect and fair play in the game well i am sorry but by refusing to do anything about this goes against everything they are trying to promote

Lets look at this from another angle that just might help to ease the pain.
If Rooney had been banned we would have suffered a double whammy.
                1) No matter what punishment the FA could have dished out, it wouldn’t change the result on Saturday. :naughty:

                2) If had been banned for 3 games say, he would miss the Wet Spam game.

So although the FA have shat out of making a big decision, lets hope Shrek goes on to net a hat trick against the world cup winners.

Mr Clattenbottom however should be demoted yeat again for seeing the incident and taking no action. :teasing-knob:

                From Matlock to ManU
                What a journey!

For a few years now some people on this board have been saying that they would prefer for us to be relegated. I have disagreed with them until now being proud that “little Wigan” were playing alongside the big boys. But after what has just gone on I think that the sooner we get out of this corrupt division the better. I will still continue to give my support to the team and in all likely-hood would enjoy my football better for it.

I’m with you on that one Dave. England used to be massive to me but not any more. I started watching the friendly against Denmark the other week. After 15 minutes I decided I couldn’t shout for a side containing Terry , Cole , Rooney ( I think Gerrard was missing ) so turned over and watched N.Ireland against Scotland. When that game got to half time I thought I’d have another look at the England game and the first players I see are the second half subs, Scott Parker and Ashley Young !!! That did it for me.

You don’t have to be a sh*thouse to play for ” Team England ” but it helps.

You’ve managed to turn Rooney criticism into an anti-Wigan post.

The ‘headbut’ you refer to was N’Zogbia’s, and it was more a ‘head-nudge’. A sending off offence –yes, but half-hearted, never likely to cause any injury, and provoked by verbal abuse from Wilshire.

Who committed the stamps and elbows? If two of the culprits were Cattermole and McCulloch, then they were punished deservedly.

Rooney however, was not punished, and his act was out of frustration and sheer malice. Prior to the incident, he’d had the first touch of Peter Sutcliffe, and was getting wound up by it. McCarthy stepped into his path, and frustrated, he went for him with his elbow. Had he connected properly, he could have done some serious damage.

Rooney shouldn’t be vilified, however what he did should have been punished as it is far more serious and malicious that ‘nudging’ someone with your head, or even taking a swing a someone when they’re facing you. What he did was cowardly and downright nasty.

Bottom line with the premiership is that it is a commercial entity, they need to sell the product, whilst very rarely worrying about ethics or fair play. Wigan are a blot on the landscape that has been taken by Blackpool, Sjoke etc over recent years. But Like Hull when we go down we will be forgotten about.

The money is with Utd and Chelskis of this world and that’s what makes the clubs their money, the world brand.

The Rooney incident was awful, he will get away with it, it will be forgotten and we will be ridiculed for bringing it up in years to come, in the ‘oh just get over it’ type of way.

We can only hope the money runs dry one day and the like of Rooney will get their comeuppance !

Onwards and Upwards….. Progress With Unity !

Eh??? How was anything I posted “anti-Wigan”

For the record I agree that what Rooney did was wrong & he should have been sent off for it at the time but Clattenberg quite clearly didn’t see it properly
However having for some reason given a free kick for somet he didn’t see i think he’s realised that he would have created a big $h!t storm for himself by saying he didn’t see the elbow & so he has taken the easy way out & said he saw the incident & thereby ensuring that the worse he’ll get is a couple of points taken off his assessors report & it’ll all be forgotten about & he’ll continue to get his big match appointments

Back to Rooney, yes it was a disgraceful action from him born as you said out of frustration at himself & malice at another player. I accept that
My point, however badly made, was that Latics players have committed similar offences in the past and, whether caught & punished or not, I don’t recall seeing any posts from Latics fans on here stating that they should be vilified for all eternity for doing somet so despicable – quite the opposite in fact. People who were there still laugh about Graeme Jones sticking one on Terry Angus against Fulham back in 96/97. The same person who was cautioned by police for smacking people in the tunnel after a Swansea game but I didn’t hear people objecting to his appointment on those grounds. Did you?
Jason Roberts reagularly used to elbow people in the face when he was playing for us – think he got sent off for it once (against Everton) but he got away with it countless times. Did you or any other latcis fan demand he was booted out of the club & vilified by all opposition fans? Nope
And that’s my point, Rooney did it, it was sly & out of order & he got away with it. His actions (& gettign away with it) don’t IMO mean that we should expect every fan in the country to treat him with disrespect & not to back him next time he plays for England.
As i say it doesn’t make what he did right or the fact he got away with it but if you agree with the original poster then (IMO) you can’t defend N’Zogbia in the Arsenal game coz a) Wilshire had said somet to him b) coz the headbutt was soft coz by the same token all Rooney’s elbow caused McCarthy to do was rub his ear for a bit & c) coz he got sent off for it

the point is though, that the premier league is protecting him. Do you really think we would be afforded the same leaniency after such an incident? I sure as hell don’t
