Football is just not important in comparison to what is going on at the moment.
The season should be ended now as if everyone had played all their matches.
Liverpool would be Champions, Villa would go down, we would stay up, Bolton and Chorley would go down and Barrow would regain their league status after 50 odd years.
It won’t suit everyone and there will be a few unhappy clubs, but at the end of the day what is more important, the lives of many, many people or a few quid in compensation for having to play at a level next season that in reality you probably deserve anyway.
Come on FA, PL and EFL come to your senses and just make the decision now so we can all plan for next season, unless of course we are still in lockdown come August then fuck knows what we’ll do.

In the grand whole scale of things, does it really matter.
They would be compensated, the players, owners and fans will be alive and still have a club to watch come the following season.Yeah. Sorry Villa your 120 million a season has disappeared but be thankful you can watch your team next season at Barnsley.

We can’t just keep this season open forever just so we don’t upset 6 or 7 clubs. A decision has to be made one way or another.
Why does everyone have a big love in with Villa all of a sudden.
If that is all that everyone is arsed about, either play the game in hand behind closed doors, award the same result for the game as it was in the first game between the two clubs, or let a panel decide on the outcome.
I don’t give a monkeys who the three relagated from the PL are, but it needs resolving and resolving quickly.Heres an idea. Combine the two seasons and play a 19/21 season consisting of 92 games. Plenty time to fit the extra games in and sides like Liverpool have the same advantage they had anyway.
If one team had say Bournemouth, Brighton, Burnley and Newcastle left then a fellow battler had Liverpool United Chelsea and City how would it be fair to base the end of season on now? Its completely unbalanced as you could have easy or hard games left.

Football is unpredictable so you can’t base it on ifs and maybes. So base it on what has actually happened. X amount of points from X amount of games.

Maybe the length of time available to complete this season is dictated by how much football we want next season.
If all internationals & European competition were binned, along with the Checkatrade & Carabo cup, then the 20/21 season could theoretically start on 1 October and finish on 31 May, which gives until around 31 Aug to finish this season.
However, the way its going, the season looks more and more like it will be voided.
Far too much money in Euro comps to cancel them. The Carabao and FA are the most likely to be binned.
Do you seriously think cross-border travel is going to be as it was come September? Countries are dealing with this on an individual basis. Some will still have bans on entry or at the very least quarantine procedures. How would playing, for example, Spartak Moscow, work if Russia has a 14 day mandatory quarantine for any non-Russian entering the country? And before you say “play away/neutral”, is that fair on the non-Russian Spartak players who would either not travel or be back in quarantine after the game, and would then be unavailable for the next match.
I know that there’s a lot of money, but its only for the select few clubs, and if the Olympics can be delayed for 12 months, a competition for very rich football clubs can be binned.

How about we end it now with no relegation Top two from every division come up and next season 5 go down instead of 3 to rebalance numbers. Scrap league cup to allow for extra games. Whatever happens next season is going to badly affected in some form.[/quote]

End the season now, in the PL, award the title and Euro places as the table is now.
No relegation. The other divisions, promote the teams currently in a promotion place, no relegation.
22 team PL next season with either 5 down/3 up or 4 down/2 up.Means everyone can focus on next season, hopefully starting sometime in August or September.
No easy answer is there? I reckon this option is as fair as it can be.
If they try to finish this season in August or whenever, what about players out of contract in June or some teams seen to have an unfair advantage as they’ve players back from injury who wouldn’t have been back in March (eg Kane)Would favour a finish of this season however agree with other posters that it most likely not going to be finished as it is due to the ongoing restrictions.
However maybe a cull of the cup comps and international fixtures Next season would help the two seasons marry up however the situation looks hopeless at the moment.
Will be very emotional when we do see those Tics line up again that’s for sure !
