There you go Donny. We are pretty expensive for match tickets.
16 November 2017 at 5:43 pm #163366Extortionate and keeping home and away fans away.
16 November 2017 at 6:29 pm #163369It was £28 for me at Peterborough in September. It didn’t put me off going, nor did it put off the 500+ other Wiganers.
Away fans who can make it will travel to the game regardless of the cost. Home fans have the option to pay dirt cheap prices up front in the form of a Season Ticket. Even at £249, they represent a huge saving on matchday prices.
16 November 2017 at 8:03 pm #163373Very true Mutts but doesn’t stop £27 being a rip off and the main reason why we won’t attract anymore than 8000 home fans and a limited amount of away fans paying on the day on Saturday.
Twenty is more than plenty.16 November 2017 at 9:52 pm #163379Donny I paid 48 quid at Chelsea and Arsenal 40quid at Spurs and that was 12 year ago. Ticket prices have been astronomical for years and we always tried to keep ours down. Now the greed money has gone the club has to pull out all the stops to remain stable. Latics could charge a fiver and we still wouldn’t attract a bigger fanbase.
16 November 2017 at 11:05 pm #163380But £27-00 is still robbery whatever excuse we make.
And I know it isn’t limited to us.
Salaries, staffing levels etc push it up to these ridiculous prices.

Twenty is more than plenty.Donny, if your theory was correct, where were these people for the cup tie with Crawley – I believe it was a tenner that day.
Give JJ & DS credit for following a pragmatic business model. They are not after attracting thousands of new fans this season – but they know that if they charge £25 for a match-day ticket, then they can charge £25 for an away supporter. They base their business model on selling season tickets at the maximum price they feel they can get away with.
Take Saturdays game for example. Bradford sell 3500 tickets at £25 – takings = £87500. They sell 3500 at £15 – takings = £52500. Do you seriously think that 2350 extra Wiganers will show up and make up the £35000 shortfall?
17 November 2017 at 2:15 am #163387Wouldn’t quite be like that though would it?
Bradford could sell 3000 tickets at £25 which equates to £75000. Great well done Bradford.
We will sell very few over our fantastic season ticket sales.
At £20 Bradford could bring another 1000 and we could possibly sell another 1000 so that woul give gate receipts of £100,000 plus extra pie and ale sales for the stadium company. Business plan sounds even better now Mutts.
What business plan were we following when we were frittering millions of pounds of parachute payments in compensation to Coyle, Rosler, McKay, Caldwell and Joyce?
A few extra in the ground may help the atmosphere along to.
Can’t imagine what it’s going to be like when Season Tickets go over the £400 pound mark if we get promoted. That would still be a bargain though.17 November 2017 at 4:38 am #163389Wouldn’t quite be like that though would it?

At the end of the day whether it’s £20 or £25 to get on, it makes no difference to most fans, afterall whats a fiver these days, you can’t get a pie and a pint for that.
17 November 2017 at 10:41 am #163390I think the extra £7-00 does make a massive difference.
It does to me and many others.
We have 5,500/6000 or so less ST holders than a few years ago many who were families.
£27-00 by two parents plus a couple of kids is hardly a cheap day and is not the way to tempt them back and no matter how well we do on the field this ridiculous price will keep them away even from half attractive games like tomorrow.
There will be more fans paying on the night Tuesday rather than Saturday and £22-00 is ridiculous at double the season ticket price.17 November 2017 at 10:43 am #163391Our attendances seem to be similar to 2 seasons ago so I’m not sure tbe price has that big an effect.
17 November 2017 at 11:12 am #163393I reckon it does Egg. It’s just the vast majority of our fan base have season tickets because face it, it does make a lot of sense to watch this way but there are many potential fans out there these days who aren’t coming because of the day prices. No way am I saying making day prices the same as season tickets or the ST holders would be screaming like a couple of years ago but £15-£20 max would be sufficient for league one and still make it an incentive to buy season tickets.
A new owner may see things much differently than the present one’s and we could be looking at huge increases on the ST front.17 November 2017 at 11:27 am #163394So where were they 2 seasons ago when prices were reasonable?
17 November 2017 at 3:59 pm #163397So where were they 2 seasons ago when prices were reasonable?Spot on matter, our fan base has nothing to do with cost Donny its geography. Surrounded by four of the biggest clubs in Britain who have always drawn large amounts of fans who come from Wigan. When these clubs are flying they come flying out the woodwork banging on about their undying support for their club. Interest in their own town team disappears subsequently we lose the add on fans . Fact of life unfortunately. The proper Latics fans remain as ever.
17 November 2017 at 4:21 pm #163398Egg, two years ago in league one, day prices were expensive just like this year.
All I want to see is more on those empty seats and having a reasonable price must help.
Anything over £20 is expensive, £27 is prohibative. -
