4 4 2 as well.
This one up front does not work for us. It showed again on Saturday and tonight 59% possesion 11 shots and no goals. Decent enough point if we werent playing catch up. Why do we take a striker off and bring a winger on? or take wingers off and bring strikers on? Please Mr Rosler lets have the exciting play you promised with at least one winger two out and out strikers and attacking midfielders.
At least Judas got an hammering tonight( the man who first brought in this lone striker garbage)29 January 2014 at 2:09 am #126484At least Judas got an hammering tonight( the man who first brought in this lone striker garbage)[/quote]
it wasn’t martinez though in fairness who developed the 1 man up front. This formation has been around for some time.

29 January 2014 at 2:21 am #126489I can not remember playying with a lone striker previous to Judas. Then the football revoloution arrived and the brave new world of the Jason Scotlandus arrived.

Then the football revoloution arrived and the brave new world of the Jason Scotlandus arrived.I presume you’re not allowed outside of Wigan or something, which is why the fact that almost no-one in the whole world plays 2 up front with 2 wingers any more has completely passed you by?
29 January 2014 at 2:24 am #126492When he was manager, graham barrow adopted 1 striker up front. Mark leonard
29 January 2014 at 2:48 am #126503I have this discussion all the time about the lone striker it does not happen no more and the people who go on about it all the time are the same people that wanted england stop playing 442 because it was old fashioned
29 January 2014 at 2:54 am #126505Am sure Sturridge and Suarez play as a 2 and didn’t Dzeko and Negredo play up front together at City recently? Bloody philistines!
29 January 2014 at 3:09 am #126508You will find that one of them drops off from the forward line just off the midfield making it not a straight forward 442
29 January 2014 at 3:11 am #126509Correct the same as shreck does behind van persie or messi st Barca

29 January 2014 at 1:46 pm #126516You will find that one of them drops off from the forward line just off the midfield making it not a straight forward 442You will find they dont. I challenge you to watch Liverpool and suggest either one of those two drops into midfield. Im not suggesting we go to two up front but if we are creating so few chances and having two thirds of the ball its probably time to change the formation or players. Its obvious unless we sign a decent striker in this window theres little chance of the play offs. We are already playing for sixth. In our hearts most of us know Fortune aint quite up to it and this Maynard looks off the pace and overweight. Its the wrong time of the season to be giving players games to get em fit. Am sure Uwe will have a plan.
29 January 2014 at 2:12 pm #126517Any formation can only be successful with the appropriate players.
Three at the back can work well. One forward on his own can work well – just look at van Nistelrooy.
It’s up to Rosler to find a formation that suits his current squad, or buy players to suit his chosen formation.
