I may sound deluded, with us being last and losing seven in a row, but Martinez isn’t a bad manager. It’s the players that are bad, nobody could get that lot to play as well as the unrealistic faithful want them to. Survival is the best we can hope for this season, whether we have Martinez or Mourinho in charge!
29 October 2011 at 10:33 pm #72837Duke it is Bob’s squad and with him in charge we have no chance of staying up.
MARTINEZ OUT!!!!
29 October 2011 at 10:38 pm #72839Yes it’s his squad, but what chance has anyone else got with his poor squad if Martinez has no chance himself? (Your opinion, not mine).
29 October 2011 at 11:58 pm #72872Well lets take a chance on someone else, martinez out
30 October 2011 at 12:01 am #72876Fair point LMB, but Martinez has twice succeeded in keeping us up, and both times we went through bleak phases like the one we’re currently in, what’s to say he can’t do it again? As for the backwards and sideways passing, at times it seems tedious and unnecessary, but that’s only due to the lack of options up front. The player on the ball simply has little choice but to play it backwards/sideways to keep possession. Would you prefer to keep posession or just hoof it forwards and lose it?
And who’s to blame for “THE LACK OF OPTIONS UP FRONT”?,wouldn’t be Mr Wonderful Roberto Martinez by any chance would it.!!!
30 October 2011 at 12:08 am #72880It’s not Martinez’s fault that Hugo makes no intelligent runs and stands stationary on the pitch like a disinterested, hormonal teenager.
30 October 2011 at 12:13 am #72886Still our only chance of a goal and must be sick of playing up front on his own. I get closer to Hugo than most of our team and I sit in the West Stand.
30 October 2011 at 12:21 am #72888Rooney, Drogba, Van Persie and the likes don’t seem too bothered about playing alone up front. I know they’re far better players but the main reason they’re still successful strikers despite being lone strikers is that they get support from their midfield. Watson, Diame, Jones, McCarthy, McArthur, none of them actually get up to support Hugo at any stage. Why? I don’t know, maybe they don’t have the legs or footballing brains? That’s why the 4-3-3 isn’t working as well as it could.

Watch him gesticulating to them to stay deep when they dare to venture too far up field ! He is a negative clueless manager ! A lovely amiable bloke yes but a decent manager, sorry but no !!
30 October 2011 at 1:09 am #72924laughing stock of the premier league now….but not for much longer eh Roberto. :(Why are we the laughing stock? I’m confused with that one.
We’re expected to go down every year, and currently sit bottom of the league. We’re meeting expectations, so why are we a laughing stock?
30 October 2011 at 1:15 am #72931Duke the shoite you talk about were 90% signed by Bob.7 of the starting 11 = 63% actually Hindley (Figueroa, Boyce, Rodallega, & Watson were not signed by Martinez)

I take back all comments from earler today about having no motivation to post boring facts.30 October 2011 at 2:48 am #72996i’ll add a little boring fact to this debate on quality of players and the managers ability to get the best out of them.
Just look at two who we had on loan in the past 2 seasons, sinclair and cleverly – both players in ‘boring bobs system’ looked average to say the least – in many peoples opinion going through the motions without direction, in cleverlys case, clearly out of position, then transfer them into a squad with a half decent proven coach and low and behold, cleverly is a revelation in central midfield at the biggest club in the country, different player to what any wigan fan saw.
Sinclair at swansea, a bit part kid who’s only plus was he was a chelsea loanee, so we assumed he had some pedigree, look at him now and last season at swansea power, pace, running with the ball at his feet setting up chances for others, can someone please point me in the direction of a DVD where he did that under martinez ?
Please dont try and paper over the martinez cracks anymore,he is a poor coach and even poorer manager who if he had any integrity would go now, it is plain for all to see and the “poor players, no funds, run of injuries” rubbish is just a smokescreen for his ineptitude.
30 October 2011 at 3:38 am #73006But it’s not fact Loudmouth, it’s opinion. Whilst at Chelsea, Sinclair was loaned to Plymouth, QPR, Crystal Palace, Charlton, Birmingham and Wigan – making 65 appearances and scoring 6 goals. That’s fact, and in my opinion, that’s hardly setting the world alight under a few coaching regimes.
Who thought Cleverley looked average at Wigan? I didn’t. I’d say it was only people who constantly see the whole team as average or poor – no matter how well certain players may have performed. That aside, even if he has been average, it’s easier to look good in a Manchester United team than it is in a struggling Wigan team.
Cleverly has publicly thanked Martinez for helping develop him.
You can accuse Martinez of many failings, but the development of young players is not one of his faults…..again, in my opinion.
