Thought we battled hard today, subs made a difference. Bit lucky at times but a decent point.

Watsons had his day, huws much better.
Maloney got to start, Forshaw on the right did the lad no favours.

There’s a reason Malky doesn’t like delort, another French strop, told to go back on and applaud the fans

I haven’t been to many games this season due to work, but i was very impressed with the battling performance shown by the team today ( & keeping the likes of rhodes quiet during the game) – shame about their goal. Not a lot carson could do about it, however, their scorer could & should have been closed down earlier.
I have also read recently on other threads about players not caring. As i said earlier i haven’t been to many games but today, i couldn’t see any player not giving a toss. It was a good battling performance. MOM for me kvist, followed by mc cann. Just my opinion of course.
Though i thought mclean & waghorn played well together & a well taken goal, we still need a “prolific” striker. But overall, i was very impressed with the performance.

Can’t believe that I feel so good about a point from today’s game !

It’s not the point(s) it’s about the performance.

I can accept points dropped if we play with some conviction, which we did today.

It’s when we give up that it becomes annoying.

a point gained due to woeful finishing however enough on show today to think there is some fight and effort in there especially when he made the substitutions.
MOM from James McLean again,he isn’t the best player in the world but his attitude and honesty out there on the pitch gives a little bit of hope although we have a long way to go.
I thought Huws,GWist and McLean stood out however the defence is woeful at times and Blackburn must be kicking themselves as it was definitely two points dropped for them with two late clearances off the line.
5 points adrift tonight and its now critical we start picking up some points so at least this was a start but it’s going to be very very tough and I’m not sure we have enough ability to do it.League one will be very difficult to take but unless we start addressing this awful form we are on the way there regardless
A win next week is an absolute must but to be honest does anyone think we will?

On average over the last 20-odd years you need 42 points to keep clear of the drop zone. at present we don’t look like getting 30!!!!

A lot of positives from yesterday. I actually really enjoyed the game and our passion, absolutely led my James McClean’s attitude and Waghorn’s willing. He got a yellow when McClean got brought down running away but he was straight over backing his team mate up. (How did their lad not get a yellow?) When Delort came on, there was the same interaction between him and McClean I noticed. These are lads that are trying for each other.

Can’t believe even when fit Waghorn wasn’t one of the first names on the teamsheet. He did tire badly but that will come, he put plenty in.

Love watching Kvist, how was this lad not getting a game, really held us together, don’t think he gave the ball away once? I thought Forshaw was excellent for a time, he’ll get there. Felt McCann was a bit lost out wide, would prefer him in the middle instead of Watson, who I do feel sorry for but he slows the game too much for the position we’re in. Barnett scares the absolute life out of me but can’t complain too much with his positioning for the goal line clearance.

Still feel we need an out and out goalscorer on the pitch to take the chances that Waghorn and McCleans energy will provide, I would still give Delort his opportunity in this team as I’d swap McCann back to Watson and move Waghorn. Our defence is poor and we’ll probably need to score at least 2 to win a game.

We’ll be beating teams soon playing this team this way, hopefully we inc Malky have turned a corner. Look forward to next week for the first time in a while.

I share your sentiments Tez re: the out & out striker. I felt after the game that is the only thing missing at present. That & the need to.work on a weak defence.
I was also proud of the commitment shown. They looked like they cared out there to me. Perhaps the last few games have been more a case of loss of confidence rather than passion & commitment.

Agree with 99% of that Tez but I’m sorry, I’m still not having Delort! Put a poper striker up there yes to allow MacClean to move wide but a demented puppy scurrying around in circles is not the answer. I know he only had 15-20 minutes to show what he can do, but he didn’t give me any indication that an extended run would be any better.

Two weeks left of the window to rectify that situation. Let’s see. 21 games to go, almost half a season.

I can honestly understand people being reluctant on Delort but I really think the lad is trying, like a demented puppy would, to impress. Its like a dog that gets 20 mins out on a lead, pulling. Let him off the leash and let him have a run. It would be a different story imo with the change of formation now suiting better than before. He could be prolific with a goal this lad and I know that’s probably more than a leap of faith for most. Stuart Barlow used to do next to nothing but score.

It was good to see Malky bring him back in the fold at least and the crowd seemed very happy to see him at least.

Anyway a good effort from all and the place seems a lot lighter.

I was actually glad to see him be given a go, and all it proved to me is I still don’t think he is the answer, and I spoke to no-one after who disagreed. Didn’t speak to many, granted.

Just read this so at least I’m not on my own :cheer:

The move proved effective, and the Frenchman caught the eye with his enthusiasm and movement up top, as Latics continued to push for a late winner.
