I don’t think we were helped with the paras jumping into the stadium.

The timing was cocked up, the players came out, shook hands, ran to warm up….then were shepherded off the pitch again to let the 3 paras land safely. They then had a wait of about 5 minutes until all that was done, before we could kick off.

We then started very sluggish, and almost conceeded about 3 times in the first ten minutes. I’m all for supporting the armed forces and all that, but I’d rather the club cut out these fancy ideas and just concentrate on the football and winning games. It’s not the players or coaching staffs fault, but the delay didn’t help us one bit, and it could’ve lost us that game today. Rotherham worked very hard, and we weren’t clever enough to break them down.

But, we didn’t lose, we gained a point, and Blackburn dropped 2 with that late goal. Win on Tuesday and today’s point will be a big one. Having an off day but not losing…not so bad.

Fuck me Dave, that post is so condescending. To blame the paras is a total disgrace, didn’t both teams have to wait for the paras to do their stuff? . That had no effect on the game and to think it did hang your head in shame. The reason we struggled was a mixture of the battling for every ball by the Millers and the failings of the referee to know the difference between a foul and a fair challenge.
Not condescending at all. There’s a time and a place. If I want to see parachutists like that, I’ll go to a military or air show. I go to the DW to watch Latics, and hopefully watch us win. The delay disrupted us, and we started sluggish, almost conceeding straight away.

I wasn’t blaming the actual Paras you buffoon, I blame the club for planning it. Let’s actually achieve what we want to achieve, before we start turning the stadium into a fucking carnival. We are here to win football games, so I don’t give a shit about anything else. If you don’t like that, tough.
The club did the right thing. The world doesn’t revolve around football. Anybody who thinks it does is pretty sad.

Brilliant goole. Brilliant.

Lest we forget!

The players probably enjoyed the short display as much as I did.

The four minute delay, when their mon had a bloody nose, did more to disrupt the flow of the game. Bet the Paras wouldn’t stop for a bloody nose !

Thought that was a load of shit why didn’t we play our strongest 11 then take the players off once we were in the lead and coasting we looked a mid table league 1 team today and nerves got the better of us, play like that next year and We’ll be thumped every week .

Fook me mon! At this stage of the season i could not care less if the last 4 games are an exact copy of tonights game. Its points that matter now – not performances. We are technically 4 points clear of blackburn thanks to the goal difference. And we won the game with a few players rested. Happy days IMO!

Your life must be one barrel of laughs.

8 points is a lovely cushion at this moment in time COYL

You’ve come out with some blinders over the years VAT, but making out that a four minute parachute jump by the Red Arrows was the reason for us not winning is a bit much.
Yes, if had to take place, it should have been on time or earlier, but you can’t just chuck three men out of a plane at 3000ft willy nilly without the conditions being right. Something must have been not quite right for it to be delayed.
Bloody rubbish Wigan, how can we allow the wind or atmospheric pressure to be unfavourable for our Parachutist, sort it out Sharpie.
BTW, I wish Will Grigg was as fast as them lads when they came in to land!!

Hope to God it wasnt the Red Arrows parachuting out into the stadium…… Dear God.

Calm yourself.

Stand by what I said, concentrate on FOOTBALL. Achieved nothing yet, as Paul has reminded us all season.

I got the bites I expected to get…. Predictable.

”Carnival shit”?
A display by our forces, that may have delayed the start by a few minutes (if that were actually were the case) and would have affected both teams equally?
Do minutes’ applauses not also “delay the kick off”?
You have always portrayed yourself as a guardian of English values, and a huge supporter of the Forces.
Your comments are petty.

George,

I wasn’t against the Forces thing, not at all. It was the timing and planning, they should’ve done it earlier to land a few minds before the kick off time. I just felt that bringing the teams out and then then going off again for around 5 mine was a bit farcical, that’s all.
I have always supported our armed forces, especially the Airborne. I’ve been to Arnhem and also Pegasus Bridge. My respect for them is massive. People who really know me understand my links to, and admiration of the Airborne forces.

No disrespect intended to anyone, but I just wanted to go to the game and concentrate on us getting the job done. The players would be focused similar too, it’s their profession. The good thing was we gained a point and didn’t lose.

Peace everyone.

As Horc said Vat, you can’t just throw someone out of a plane. Obviously the timings were off but it can’t be helped with something like that.

The person at fault was the ref for not leaving the players in the tunnel/dressing room when he knew the pitch hadn’t been cleared.

Wasn’t the idea anyway that the last jumper brought the match ball?

Spot on really, saying it was the refs fault. He seemed to go against what was planned, carrying a matchball out. He was (another) terrible ref all round really, wasn’t he? Theyre reffing at this level for a reason.
