I thought we played well last night, kept a clean sheet and undefeated in three. Doesn’t hide the position in the league and the terrible stuff prior to these three but there seems to be some solidity. Naismith at the back is a revelation! Where is Moore?
24 December 2019 at 1:16 pm #183157Thought Blackburn looked mediocre…..prior to injury Dack was anonymous but yet again couldn’t make our superiority count. Massey,Jacob’s yet again poor. As for Lowe ..not good enough. Runs into box at full pelt but no final ball or ability to hit target…Forest Gumps until he runs into the post, not a goal in him. Negative substitutions….should have been Pilkington/Garner, Rovers were there for the taking but no ambition to grab 3pts late on. Yet another game we happy with 1pt when really should be 3. Not to worry …can’t buy a win, winnable home game Derby next………been here many times before.
24 December 2019 at 1:29 pm #183158A breathtaking four shots on target. Front one starved by a shite three behind him. Back four did ok protected by the two in front of them.
Negative line up with out of form players in that line up.
A Joyce like approach giving the result we prepared and played for.
Such a shame because Blackburn stunk.A negative lineup? We had 4 attacking players and created a pot load of chances we’re just not good enough at taking them. It wasn’t even remotely close to a Joyce style lineup or gameplan.[/quote]
Or 1 striker with 5 midfielders two of who have been out of form all season and another who isn’t up to the standard of this league. The two others Morsy and Evans are a class above the other three who neither assist or support our ever more lonely looking one up top.
Great point though. The point Joyce liked to play for. Got to admit we are looking better and that is probably down to Evans being back who could link up well if there was something better in front of him. His passes are brilliant. Maybe a so called attacking mid of Pilkington Windass and Lowe with either Pilks or Lowe playing as an actual wide man with Windass behind or beside Moore. Who knows Lowe may even look better as a winger as that is what he is. May be a big ask though to see him play in position.24 December 2019 at 2:53 pm #183161Don’t think we are far off but Cooks persistence with Jacobs and Massey is frustrating. Only he thinks there a better option than Pilks. Anyone else?
Neither have any self belief in front of goal.
Think Lowe is doing ok to be honest but be better wide. Bring Williams back in as well and play 433
24 December 2019 at 3:02 pm #183163Agree……As far as I’m concerned the injury to Moore and Garner on bench means we played without a genuine striker…..and it shows. Leagues lowest scorers tells it all. Not a hope Lowe can play striker role, best wide. Cannot get over what the noisy one sees in Jacob’s/Massey????..don’t give a toss what they see in training, their on field performances this season are rank……but they still start. Like lining up with 9 men at the start.

Has Cook realised he has made an expensive mistake with Moore?
24 December 2019 at 4:36 pm #183170Not sure about Moore expensive mistake,no1 target Lowe definitely looks league 1.
24 December 2019 at 4:40 pm #183172We could get our money back on Moore. He doesn’t suit our style of play unfortunately. Lowe shows glimpses and is a couple of years younger. Sure another striker will be in January.
24 December 2019 at 4:43 pm #183174I know you don’t bother with games anymore vat, but you could still read the goings on at the club
Attachments:24 December 2019 at 6:09 pm #183181The only reason it’s not working for Moore is down to Cooks insistence of lobbing the ball to him, in the hope he can knock it onto a runner. It’s ironic how performances have improved since this tactic has ceased.
Someone else has said this. But Moore up top with Windass behind & Lowe & Pilks on the wings.
24 December 2019 at 6:13 pm #183183To be fair to More, he does have a few assists despite the tactics and general lack of support and service.

Yep, that would work for me.
24 December 2019 at 6:49 pm #183185Knock downs for runners…balls in from by line for Moore to attack. Not these 75 yd hopeless punts expecting him to do a Zlatan, trap, swivel, lash in from 25yds. What the hell did HE sign him for then ? Moores a good player under a tin pot manager.
24 December 2019 at 6:56 pm #183186You been back on football manager with your dinnertime football tactics delboy?
