Defence 9 out of 10
Young Nichols 10 out of 10
Our Forwards 1out of 10
Ref -effin minus 10 !!!31 October 2013 at 2:51 am #122939Referee was an absolute joke tonight. How he didn’t give anything for that fowl on powell right at the end beggars belief.
Definitely 10 out of 10 for young nicholls.
Sooner january comes the better for me & we can sign a decent striker. Nothing against fortue but holt?????31 October 2013 at 2:54 am #122940The problem I had tonight was Coyles team selection. Am I over thinking this but is MacManaman a left wing back and is Jordie Gomez a right wing back?
Surely rather than play two players out of position you put the players in who can play there.
It was crying out for Jean Beau on the left and either MacManaman or Albrighton on the right.
Gomez was getting slated by his team mates for not chasing back and MacManaman was restricted to dropping his shoulder and coming inside only to be met by two QPR players. He took the full back on once out wide and hit a left foot cross that was weaker than mi mums tea. :(
Two massive positives for me tonight….Lee Nicholls and Chris McCann. Both did more than enough to warrant a good spell in the team.
As for Powell, he is on another football planet than anyone in this championship. He doesn’t break sweat but runs about 10 miles more than any other player. What a player I can’t believe we have him on a season long loan. :)
From Matlock to ManU

Agreed we need more attacking options, but in fairness that was the first home game we’ve not scored this season.
31 October 2013 at 3:44 am #122947Six-foot-one version of Mauro Boselli
31 October 2013 at 12:20 pm #122952Granted ref didn’t cover himself in glory but come on that performance was poor.Qpr didn’t look great so I thought they were very beatable but not with our forward play.We have improved at the back and Nicholls handling was excellent,Powell worked hard all night but no goals in last 3 league games is a worry. Apart from rattling the post we created nothing as we didn’t at Charlton or for 65 mins at Blackpool.

Sooner january comes the better for me & we can sign a decent striker. Nothing against fortue but holt?????I thought so at the time he was signed and I am even more convinced now – Holt has only come here because he wanted to move back north and can’t believe the deal he has got with us. He’s just batting out time until the pension kicks in.
And people have the nerve to boo Jordi Gomez when that useless waste of space is out there stealing a living.
At least Gomez had a shot last night. The only time Holt kicked it that hard and as far was when he tried to control it. Couldn’t trap a bag of cement.
31 October 2013 at 12:55 pm #122958well I’ve got to agree, on a number of occasions Gomez span on the ball looking for a pass only to see everyone leggin away from him.
And as for Holt ? I smell another Koumas/Dinning type deal that will linger on and fester like a fish in an old sock.
1 goal in 4 and hardly an effort on target in those games and with 37% possession last night doesn’t make good watching or reading.
Albrighton comes on and ends up dropping into a defensive role , I bet he’s chalking the the days off 1 by 1.

This sums it up really. Thing is with Holt, it’s akin to working with someone that tries to look busy all the time. He actually made a run last night ending up with him flicking a pass to Gomez that Usain Bolt wouldn’t have kept in and looked at Gomez in disgust as if to say ‘here’s me working my nuts off and you can’t keep up’. He’s here for a payday, that’s all.
As for the Gomez bashers, it’s about time they left him alone. The lad’s got loads of talent but his confidence must be rock bottom. All he has to do is mis-control the ball and the groans start. He’s just starting to look forward when he picks up the ball (rather than the Martinez doctrine of control, then pass back, Ben Watson being an acute sufferer), gets into some great positions and isn’t scared to have a dig. We’ll miss him more than you think.

31 October 2013 at 3:30 pm #122970I’ll disagree on Holt
Yeah no doubt he was looking for a last payday/signing on fee – there’s not many journeymen players at the same stage of their career who wouldn’t but at the end of the day he’s also taken a pay cut. He could have stayed at Norwich & earnt more flat rate sat in the stiffsAnyway, leaving that to one side I don’t think his poor performances are related to not giving a $h!t coz he’s got his dosh either but more to do with being asked to play a role that doesn’t suit him in any way, shape or form. From what i saw of him at Norwich he was that big lump of a target man, flicking the ball on for others &/or getting on the end of stuff in the penalty area – & he did it very well.
Under Coyle at Latics he’s being asked to play that lone forward role where he needs to drop deep, hold the ball up, bring others into play & then get on the end of stuff in the penalty area. He hasn’t got the skill set to play that role & he’s looking like a fish out of waterMy own feelings on Gomez is that he is a really gifted & skilful footballer but he is way too slow in mind & body at times. When he’s given time & space on the ball he can pick out a slide rule pass no-one else can manage like to McManaman against Millwall at Wembley but most of the time he doesn’t have that luxury. As with Holt, he’s also now being asked by Coyle to play in a wide position where he doesn’t have the pace to be effective. Like Holt, he’s looking like a fish out of water & he’s starting to get grief. Played as Bobby wound up using him at the back end of last season & he looks good. He doesn’t help his case when he is seen to bottle out of tackles as he did at least once against Rubin last week (although sometimes he gets stick for appearing to do that when he actually chose the better option in standing up). That said he doesn’t deserve anywhere near the stick get gets from some coz he can blaze over a shot & get booed, someone else does it & they get clapped
It reminds me of the Teale/McCulloch scenario from a few years back
31 October 2013 at 3:43 pm #122972A point against QPR and some of us are moaning but the annoying thing is you have a right to moan because our manager is coming across as some sort of idiot tactics wise ! I am now of the opinion that a half decent manager could work wonders with our current squad !
The honeymoon period is over for me !31 October 2013 at 3:48 pm #122973Someone is going to get a tonking off us soon, thats my prediction
