19 September 2013 at 11:59 pm #121207Superb result, team defended well and the support from the latics fans was amazing.
20 September 2013 at 12:09 am #121209& we have created yet more history in our very short time as a league club. Our first ever point in europe.
20 September 2013 at 12:13 am #121210Superb result, team defended well and the support from the latics fans was amazing.Top effort all round. Great support, well done to all concerned.
A few bleary eyes tomorrow morning getting off the coaches I reckon though.
20 September 2013 at 12:17 am #121211Solid performance and a great point in poor conditions.
A clean sheet speaks for itself and it would be churlish to critisise anyone tonite after that battling performance.
The fans were brilliant throughout.
Onwards and upwards !!!!

Loads of effort and hard graft although a little short on quality from both teams but who cares a solid hard won point.
another bit of history made!20 September 2013 at 12:56 am #121214I agree that it’s a great point, mainly because we were lucky not to lose by the skin of our teeth, giving the ball away like school kids & last ditch lucky defending was what I saw, 1 meaningful attempt at goal in the second half, I don’t want to slag the performance off but each game leaves me with more concerns although it’s difficult to say how good or bad Zulte are .

Fans being whipped up into a European frenzy when the evidence of very sloppy play was there for all to see again ! Concerned? You should be ! :S
20 September 2013 at 12:29 pm #121222I thought considering the conditions and the line-up that that was a cracking point. It’s obvious that promotion is our main priority but I thought what I would class as our ‘second string’ side did pretty well.
Ryan Shotton looked quite good, Carson was quite good (a few crosses aside. His defence from crosses does worry me) and Nick Powell showed some good touches.
Anyone who plays in Europe on a regular basis will tell you that any point away from home is a good point. Yes there were concerns at times but as I said that was a side that included at least 5 players that won’t play when we have a full squad to choose from.

Nah – if we perform badly on Sunday and don’t beat Ipswich that will be the cause for concern.
As for Tuesday there no way I could ever see us beating City in a cup competition !!
20 September 2013 at 1:17 pm #121226Job done.
Set out to save as many of the first team as possible for Sunday and still grab a result. Clean sheet and a good run out for some of the others who are less likely to feature on Sunday.
If we use it like the early rounds of the FA cup, it enables us to bed in our second string.
Suppose it also depends on how we play Sunday. If the players rested don’t do well then Coyle can’t use the excuse of Europe as much as if he’d played a full strength team.
20 September 2013 at 3:09 pm #121231Since when did good saves, defenders blocking shots and goal line clearances become lucky?
Used to be called good defending !!20 September 2013 at 4:21 pm #121232When Zulte players were left unmarked at the far post, missing the opportunities to slide in by a whisker on numerous occasions, I disagree, I feel we were very lucky not to get punished .
20 September 2013 at 4:47 pm #121233I have to agree with the negative sentiments that it was not a brilliant performance and for other than a few moments of luck (although I always think its about time we get it when we do) we could of lost this.
That being said we were playing on the lost football pitch of Atlantis so maybe a point away isn’t all that bad.
I certainly think we can turn them over at home anyway.
Coyle seemed to be resigned to taking a point judging by his moronic substitutions.
