You know the Test Match Special prize for the best moment in any Test Match. Here’s mine as a Latics fan since ’79

    1. Stan McEwans 40 yarder vs someone or other in the 80’s
    2. Chris Thompson making it 3-0 vs Hull City FA Cup 5th round 1987 (still our best cup run)
    3. David Thomson turning Alan Hansen and smashing that one in right in front of us at Anfield 1990ish
    4. Darren Pattersons last minute equaliser away at Coventry FA Cup 1990ish
    5. Simon Haworths chip Wembley playoff final vs Gillingham (even though it ended in tears)
    6. Nathan Ellingtons header vs Reading to seal promotion to Prem
    7. Jason Roberts away at Arsenal to take us to Cardiff
    8. Watching Latics walking out at Cardiff in front of 35000 Latics fans – look how far we’ve come etc. Forget the rest of the day.
    9. Henri Camaras hat trick vs Charlton Dec 05
    10. Valencia away at Villa to seal Prem status

Probably missed a few e.g Tony Kellys own goal for Bolton, Roberts scoring away at Preston within 5 mins of first game etc.

Forgot Camaras wonder goal at Sunderland

I think that Ellington’s goal against Reading is THE one moment – it was then we knew we’d got there.

Neil Roberts scoring against City in the League Cup is also up there.

    Staying up at Bramall Lane.

    Beating Chelsea the other week.

Oh and Matt Jackson’s last seconds equaliser at Coventry, having just given away a goal at the other end – the celebrations were immense!!

Ellington against Reading….start of an almighty p1ss up…actually went in Grey Man/Mare up Daisy Hill later in the day and gave a half full boozer the full ” up the football league we go ” with me Latics shirt on and got a round of applause

      Bramhall lane…beautiful

And 1 for the older end …just being there at Maine Road in’70…15000 Wiganers and about half that in the Kippax…no bother though..wasn’t old enough anyroad.

God – hadn’t thought about the obvious one – Unsworths penalty at Bramall Lane. Suppose I wasn’t there though and I was at all the others – have to be there to get the full champagne effect!

Theres only defining moment in the history of WAFC , one that has been the foundation of everything that has been built upon …… 1978 and the momentous moment we found out that we had been elected to the football league.

Now that was a day !!!!!

That was up there if not better than the prem promotion.

God, I remember how many seats disintergrated as we bounced about, falling all over everywhere, it was like a bomb had gone off.

The bruises on my shins the next day were not funny, niether was the news after the game that one of our lads got stabbed on the car park (I think it was the same game?).

FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that

                  Nice pointless addition Skinner..well done.
The Unsworth penalty had to be one of the best. Beer flying everywhere then and at half time. But one of the most memorable moments for me would have to have been the last game at highbury (even though we lost) was amazing, the atmosphere, seeing Thierry Henry drive past in his porsche (and various other players) Matt lucas saying hello to me when he walked past. Was amazing. Sat with Paul Scharner’s Mum, Dad, Brother and Sister (FIT sister). Was just a day to remember. :D

Can’t believe nobodies mentioned the 2 freight autowindscreens rover finals especially paul rogers last minute winner v millwall atmosphere was amazing being outnumbered by ’bout 8 to 1.

What! The first one ok but the second one was one of the worst days and games ever!

Although saying that i had been out all nite and then come in got changed and was ten mins late for the coach!

In fact my memories of that day are scarred by the Sunday Sports middle page spread of the fattest female porn star inthe world which everybody had in the back window of the coaches (not what you need with a hangover, plus i was beginning to think it was the bird from the night before), friendly millwall fans at wembley, Out singing them even though we only had about a quarter of what they did, a nice kip at halftime which they showed on tv, Then that Paul Rogers last minute goal and refusing to leave cos we were celebrating lol!

Oh that and Ginger nuts Chris Evans playing for the southerners and him taunting us all! Never liked him since then!

Actually it was quite a good day!
