Unfortunately I am old enough to remember the 5-3 win over Port Vale from 3 down, but didn’t include it as I was on hols in Devon. Gave up listening to the radio at 3-0 with 30 mins to go. Couldn’t believe it on final score!
Another top moment was Mellors last minute winner at the Riverside (about the only decent thing he did for us), particularly for me as I live in the North East and my in laws are big Boro fans. Sweet.
How about 3-4 vs Doncaster, late 80’s. 2-0 down with 15 minutes to go, rain sweeping across the ground, stuck in the cage, fans turning on each other. To bang in 3 late goals
Others have to be the 5-2 defeat to Liverpool in the league cup, 1 down after a few minutes, the week after Liverpool beat palace? 9-0, fans singing we want 10……. going 2-1 up after an hour. Pity it didnt last!
Ellingtons goal 3-3 away vs Wolves in the promotion season.

I remember having a never-ending cup of (cold) bovril that day. F****** freezing.
Weren’t there a couple of broken legs in that game too?
EL – yes that liverpool one was the one I was referring to when Thommo turned Hansen in the area and smashed it past Grobelaar right in front of us. I think Brian Griffiths scored a good free kick as well, but that was at other end in front of the Kop – still pretty sweet moment that as well.

January 2nd 1988, after beating Preston 2-0 on New Years Day…. them were the days Link
I still think as games of importance went, the Victory away to Leicester was the game where belief in promotion to the premiership happened. 2-0 I think.
As for Champagne moments, walking away from the Newcastle game in our first season in the premiership was amazing, being top for a night was an achievement.
I can vaguely remember some champagne moments in Amsterdam a couple of years ago, dont remember much about the football apart from someone jumping on David Lowe and another someone deciding to undress and run about on the pitch, priceless.
Totally outclassing Leeds Utd twice (once on live TV). Had you asked an alien that day who was in the CL semi finals 2 years previous they would not have said Leeds. That was when you started to believe that something special was happening (well I did anyway)
Paddy Macs goal to gain promotion from Div 3. Looked like we’d never get out that division. Then the two Greames’ clinching the title.
The 3-1 win over Chesterfield in the last league match at Springy, and Bournemouth missing 2 (or was it 3) penalties to draw at Walsall meaning we had City in the playoffs. It was in the stars that the old girl would get one more big day.
Beating big name, establised PL sides like Everton and Newcastle in our first season.
Oh and Matt Jackson’s last seconds equaliser at Coventry, having just given away a goal at the other end – the celebrations were immense!!
God, I remember how many seats disintergrated as we bounced about, falling all over everywhere, it was like a bomb had gone off.
The bruises on my shins the next day were not funny, niether was the news after the game that one of our lads got stabbed on the car park (I think it was the same game?).[/quote]
now that brings back memories .many moons back f.a cup classic ray woods cross to patterson very late in the game to equalise and bring them back to springfield park .also the playoff game at springfield park against swindon in front 2 nil till last 10 minutes then loseing 3.2 .then nil .nil at swindon .great days out .never forget

We were second ;)
Was on holiday for that game and the beer was certainly flowing afterward

Correct – we actually were top of the Premier when we beat Sunderland a couple of years ago at the JJB. Funny thing was everyone was really quiet outside (much to the Sunderland fans’ puzzlement) as we were too stunned to realise!
