Intersting-ish quote from Jewell about deadline day…
Jewell told BBC Radio 5 live: “The Premier League boys put everything into their January basket, if you buy at this stage it shows you are desperate, we have all done it, myself included.
“The agents and the players are looking for clubs in a higher position. When they can’t find anywhere else, they come to you, but they come for the wrong reasons at inflated prices. It is a scenario I found myself in at Wigan and Derby

No worries Phil, I’ll get on to the BBC right now to tell them that they have the wrong man for an inside track on the workings of the transfer window. Didn’t realise you were such an expert on all types of window ;)

I always listen when PJ talks, and agree with him on this point wholeheartedly, but didn’t he sign Scharner in the January window? He didn’t turn out to be bad signing.
“im pleased with the strength and depth of our squad…its the strongest we have had for years…managed to keep hold of our key players which is importnat for a club like wigan…having the loan players back is like having new signings…blah blah blah”
ok, so Roberto wont say the blah blah bit but expect the usual stuff
Neil Ashton writes: ‘Roberto Martinez’s hopes of landing Aidan McGeady have been dealt a crushing blow.
Wigan were convinced the Spartak Moscow winger was on his way to the DW Stadium this morning.
Instead the former Celtic man has had a last minute change of heart and has opted to remain in Russia.
McGeady, 26, had indicated he was ready to return to Britain after nearly three years in Moscow.
The decision leaves Martinez desperately short of options as he looks for an alternative to help save Wigan from the drop.’

The news of him refusing to speak to us has come out in the last half an hour or so. The page you’re referring to was probably published during the night or first thing this morning.
I think his pace would be deadly and we’re crying out for a tricky winger. Moses could dribble, had decent pace but a poor final ball. N’Zogbia had good pace, good dribbling and a decent final ball. McGeady is lightning, well known for his ability to leave a man for dead and may have the killer ball into the box. We’ve needed a winger all season as we’re not getting goals from the wide areas like we did with Moses and N’Zogbia.
