27 January 2015 at 6:21 pm #138773Well I’ve always been of the opinion he’s a good player but the link says “One of the best midfielders in the Championship” Thats a bit strong.
He never gave me that impression, a steady eddy and no more27 January 2015 at 6:30 pm #138774Never mind all that how much did we pay for him not that long ago?
How the fck are we expected to stay up selling all the talent and bringing all the shite in we are doing? Talk about clearing out the wages before we drop.
How the fck has it come to this? Whelan is supposed to have no involvement for 6 weeks yet it will be one of his most profitable weeks at the club if all these sales go through!

I posted on facebook over the weekend that I think we’ve accepted relegation and are glad to go back to ‘our level’ in profit having chased and lived the dream. This selling of practically everyone tells me the same.
Although, Malky did say yesterday that we want players who want to be at the club and maybe we’re just offing the ones that don’t.

Don’t bite my head of but did you rate him ? I thought he looked OK’ish but he never set the world alight especially coming to us with the title of Player Of The Year for Div1.
I’m not saying he wouldn’t have turned out to be a good player but right now we can’t hang around to find out. Also, you just don’t know what’s in the lads contract in we were to go down. I wish he would stop but if he goes I wont be losing any sleep, lets face it , if their all as good as they reckon then why are we in the crap were in ?.
There’s something not right at the club so the only way to sort the mess out is to totally de-weed it. I’m all for a good clear-out we might even find a few on the payroll we didn’t even know were here like Caldwell, remember him ?
27 January 2015 at 6:51 pm #138778Forshaw is a scapegoat – beaten only in those stakes by Cowie.
I’ve lost count of the number of times mindless morons in the West Stand have berated him and jeered when he’s been substituted. And now it seems everyone actually rated him after all!
We don’t know the ins and outs of this deal (or even if it is actually going through) nor what or how we paid for Forshaw in the first place.
Myabe we paid X, with Y coming into effect after so many appearances. Who knows?
But, I very much doubt the club have thrown the towel in and are resigned to being in League One.
For one, dropping down to League One could lead to people losing their jobs, or at
the very least, having to take pay cuts.Secondly, Whelan still has a lot of money invested in the club, and even if the entire squad was sold, it would go nowhere near paying him back.
I’d hazard a guess that Mackay wants a squad of players who’ll battle to stay up, and Forshaw and the others who have gone do not fit into that mould.
All my opinion, obviously.
27 January 2015 at 6:55 pm #138779Why would there be mention in his contract of us going down? Maybe going up!
This lad hasn’t played well for us generally but after how we chased him, when I’d hardly heard of him, couldn’t have done him any favours. Rosler put him on a pedestal and it’s ruined him though I thought he was coming back. The fact we wanted him, Brentford held out for big bucks and now probably the favs for the championship want him as they push for the premier league says to me yes this lad is a good player. We will be letting him go for less than we paid if these rumours are true.As for players not wanting to be here. Probably down to the manager and good luck to them, I wouldn’t want to be playing under him either.

And therein lies my biggest problem, people saying what squad we now need to stay up. We had a squad at one point able to challenge for the league before disastrous decisions. We’re now getting rid of that and if we do stay up well be left with a bunch of cloggers in the main if Malky has his way, so what next year?
What a complete and utter fck up. This fire sale is appalling and everyone just sits back and says well it’s the type of team we need now.
Who is making the decisions really chippy lad on commission sales of players, maybe it’s the all knowing McKay who hasn’t won more than a match, maybe it’s whelan who’s getting some coin in before he coins out. Whatever is going on its fckin bad.27 January 2015 at 7:09 pm #138781And therein lies my biggest problem, people saying what squad we now need to stay up. At what point have I said ‘this is the type of squad we need’?
I said ‘I’d hazard a guess that Mackay wants a squad of players who’ll battle to stay up, and Forshaw and the others who have gone do not fit into that mould.’
He’s the manager, and it’s him who decides what type of player he wants.
Personally I liked the Martinez way, and would love to have a team playing their way out of trouble by keeping the ball on the floor. But we haven’t got Martinez anymore and therefore I can only surmise what Mackay and the club have in mind.

As was my comment.
It just seems that with Whelan looking like he’s ready to move on and bringing his Grandson in that we’ve accepted that we can’t survive at this level for too long and it’s time to start again. We’re still in a far better position than when DW took over and will have the funds to survive for years to come if managed correctly.
27 January 2015 at 7:21 pm #138783Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think we’re actively going out to lose matches and get relegated I just think we’re preparing for it. The wage cutting and bringing in money for players wherever possible just has that ‘closing down’ feel to it.
27 January 2015 at 7:25 pm #138784Calm down calm down
We have no devine right to be in this league, we aren’t second bottom by chance, we are where we deserve to be. If that means we get relegated, so be it, if we stay up, so be it. This is part and parcel of being a supporter. Im far from happy with us being where we are at the moment, but keep the faith, we’ve had years of highs recently now its time for possibly some years of lows … it just makes it all the better feeling when the highs come along. Buckle up and enjoy the roller-coaster that supporting Wigan Athletic is …
27 January 2015 at 7:33 pm #138785The timing of this e-mail I just received from Latics marketing couldn’t be better.
