What’s with all the pessimism on here?

It’s amazing that people think we need two wins to stay up and even then it may not be enough, because that effectively means that we expect the other teams around us to win their games.

if we beat West Ham we give ourselves a great shout of staying up.

When did Wolves have such a great away record that they expect to go to Sunderland and win? They then entertain Blackburn on last day with both teams probably needing points. I can see Wolves taking two points out of their next two games. Did anyone see the Wolves game yesterday. The Baggies gifted them three shocking goals and in the second half showed what a poor side Wolves really are.

Blackpool play Bolton at home, who althogh they lost to Sunderland at home, had loads of chances and will be absolutely desperate to finish a good season on a positive note – Coyle will have them fired up. They then go to Old Trafford who will make a few changes but the reserves will be busting a gut to get in the Champions league side – I forsee a Berbatov hat-trick. Blackpool will take one more point maybe three if they fluke a win against Bolton.

So if we beat West Ham we may only end up needing a point at Stoke and we can do that.

By the way, I thought our support on Saturday was great. Did anyone notice Di Santo heading down the tunnel at the end and then realising he ought to give us a clap and then clapping from the relative safety of 40 yards away?

    Well said Swindon

It also echoes the comments of Mick McCarthy prior to Wolves game yesterday when he asked why everybody suddenly thinks that all he teams in & around the bottom are going to win all their games. Teams like Latics, West Ham, Wolves, Blackpool, Blackburn & Brum are all down at the bottom coz they don’t win many games

I think in terms of who will go down that alot of people are seeing United with the title sewn up just lying down & taking it easy. Can’t see it myself. Those who play against Blackburn will a) wanna confirm the title & b) be busting a gut to show they deserve to start. Against Blackpool it is likely to be a changed side & many of those chosen will probably know that they aren’t starters for the final but they will be desparate to show ferguson they deserve a place on the bench & to be called on if he needs changes
I also don’t think United’s record after having won the title is particularly bad. I know they lost at home to west ham but as someone has pointed out on another thread they could & should have won that game & perhaps more importantly Blackpool don’t have Carlos Tevez playing for them. I can recall United playing blackburn at home the first season they won the premier league after being confirmed as champions without even playing – they went on to wallop Blackburn 3-1

I did the BBC predictor this morning & reckon that if Latics get 4 points it should be enough. I had blackburn down to lose both games, Blackpool to draw with Bolton & get beat by United, Wolves to lose at Sunderland & beat Blackburn, West Ham to lose against Latics & win against whoever it is they play on the last day. Latics I had beating West Ham & getting a draw against a Stoke side whose season will be over after the cup final & who will have played a midweek game too
Not saying I’m confident on either latics prediction but if the team play as well as they are capable of then it is more then possible

very optimistically – a draw and a narrow defeat could be enough

in any case, good for us that by the time we play west ham next sunday we will already know the results of wolves, blackpool, and blackburn from the day before
