If the report says “scissor tackle” which is deemed as dangerous, then we’ve every right to appeal. Whatever you make of it, it wasn’t a scissor tackle.
31 March 2010 at 1:09 am #28101Stupid appealing.
3 game ban will become 5 games. Practically out of the season.
Take it on chin and get on with it.
31 March 2010 at 2:09 am #28106Sad thing is Vat, you’re spot on…..we all know that decision was a joke, but if we appeal Caldwell will get an extra game.

Yes it was. If it wasn’t then how did his trailing leg end up wrapped round Tevez’s leg before tevez leapt out of the way as if shot, rolled around then leapt back up when the red card was shown?
The one thing that would stink if the rumour that it was for a scissor tackle is true is that Attwell would appear to have looked at the footage again & changed his mind as to why he sent him off in order to make it stick in the event of an appeal
31 March 2010 at 12:00 pm #28122I think we should appeal, I also think we will win the appeal and get it rescinded, as I still believe now that it was neither a foul nor a red card. I think it’s a fair tackle and they get made week in week out in football matches, the only thing Caldwell did was go in hard, and that is not against the rules. What did Atwell wnat him to do..Let Tevez run past him?Why waste our time with an apeal? Over the course of a season we are on the receiving end of some shoite descisions and it never evens itself up.
James we are little Wigan a small fly in the Premier League ointment and we are about as welcome as a dose of clap!!!!
31 March 2010 at 3:03 pm #28133If we do complain to the FA, it will give the Talk “We love West Spam” Sport an excuse to have a go along with the rest of the media. May as well let it go and hope Martinez puts Scharner back in there and bring moses into midfield.
31 March 2010 at 3:22 pm #28136I think there’s a certain sense of looking at Caldwell’s challenge through Latics tinted specs.
if I’m honest I winced when he put the challenge in & half expected the red to come out but regardless of that no media pundit I’ve heard since the challenge was made has said that he shouldn’t have been sent off – and that can’t all be anti-Latics bias

I have heard people say it! I have also heard people saying that it was very harsh.
It wasn’t a sending off even in the most tinted of specs and even if those specs were bias against wigan.
If we appeal…It gets rescinded…end of. I guarantee it.
Martinez has said he will appeal.

I’ll be very surprised if it is rescinded. Probably get an extended ban.

No chance mate we will probably get relegated now for having the cheek to question a top referee

Sky said at the time it was a very harsh sending off. If that is a straight red how long before we play touch football that was nothing more than a good strong tackle from a committed player.
