Watching the debate last night, the Leave side came across in a calm, reasoned and more professional manner and I was well impressed with Gisela & Amanda. On the other side the body language of the three ladies was aggressive, over emotional and desperate, and completely let the side down. I would imagine that there attitude alone will have pushed more voters to Brexit.
Then switching over to Question time later; what a twonk Eddie Izzard was ( maybe Moonay likes him :woohoo: )

Corbyn is arguing his party’s position from the “Workers’ Rights” angle – something that not only the Brexit Tories abhor, but Cameron & Osborne are very quiet on when pressed about these “advantages” of being in the EU. Things like holiday pay for part-time & agency workers, paternity leave, extended maternity leave, and as a qualified HGV driver, the restriction on how many hours I can be forced to drive each week/fortnight. Sure, it may cap my earning potential, but it also keeps a very tired driver of a 50 tonne vehicle off the road.

As much as I don’t like the thought of hundreds of thousands of unskilled Eastern Europeans rocking up in the UK year upon year, the thought of the right wing tories and UKIP ripping up every right that our workforce have scares me even more.

As a professional driver then mutt you like me should be firmly in the leave camp. All the rules and regs in the industry are EU directives yet it seems only to apply to UK. The driver CPC being the classic example. As you know from Sept 2014 if you had not completed your driver CPC then you could no longer drive a truck and as per normal the UK at the cost of millions of pounds to the industry got it done. Yet all the other countries moaned and the majority of EU drivers to this day have yet to start but are still driving and mainly on our roads tax free coz we are not allowed by Brussels to introduce the tax on foreign trucks. The Dutch and Germans now have until 2018 to complete CPC training 1yr before we have to complete our 2nd five year CPC. Every rule that comes from the EU is designed to put Britain in its place and let the kermits and sausage eaters get the best for themselves. Stay and be persecuted or leave and flourish its an easy choice for me.

A quick fix would be to put a member of VOSA/DVLA at the port of entry. No valid CPC and the truck is refused access and impounded until the haulage company sends a driver who is qualified to drive commercially on the UK highway.

The EU could hardly kick off about us refusing entry to drivers not complying with their directive!

Trouble with that mutt is the EU make the rules and would not let that happen. What I don’t understand is how can the tossers threaten to sue the UK if we bring in the tax on foreign trucks when we are the only countries who don’t already have it in place. And then there is the issue with Cabot age, yet another practice costing Britsh companies millions in lost business. The feckin kermits even own all the major river crossings in Britain. Vote Out.

So, if I get stopped by VOSA and my Driver Card shows I’m way over the hours, or I don’t have a valid CPC, or the tacograph is disconnected, the vehicle gets impounded and both me and my employer get fined, but if Polish Pete, Romanian Ronnie or Bulgarian Bob do likewise, they get to carry on?

I believe we have tightened things up somewhat but that is exactly how it has been. It was always a matter of parking them up for 24 hrs then letting them go crazy as it sounds.
