Lets compare my “sarcastic rant” to the “reasonably put questions” by the chosen disciples of the self proclaimed ‘defenders of the prophet Martinez’ on here, mine rightly or wrongly put by me are the ones most people are asking every week, and those from the supporters we already know what the answers will be.

the point of my “rant” is to highlight the fact that real questions about the real problems at Wigan athletic under Roberto Martinez will not be asked, and can anyone honestly say that the things I have said, no matter how brutal I expressed them, are not the real questions that we ALL hear in the stands,concourse,pre/post match drinking dens and on message boards every week, I repeat

i)Why is graham barrow at Wigan athletic ?
ii)Is there a reason we have conceded so many goals this season ?
iii)Do you honestly believe that management and ALL the players are pulling together ?
iv)Why does he still continue to use a system week in week out that 95% of the supporters don’t understand, most of English footballs managers despise, our players are totally out of touch with and is clearly not working ?

That is a cheap shot of the highest order, I told you before I would NEVER use any terminology that referred to Martinez’s nationality again, because I detest any form of racism and it was pointed out to me by using ‘Spanish’ as an adjective it amounts to that, to be honest I didn’t “expect better of you“, because all through any debate about Martinez, every time someone strays from what “super fans” perceive to be the correct stance the insults come thick and fast.

Taking the last point first. First of all, my “proposed” question was a jibe at all the Dark Side, those who normally engage in that tone of post. Normally, you are not quite that base in your comments, I agree. Secondly, if you are accusing me of insulting peple thick and fast, then I will accept that I can throw the odd sarcastic and be-littling barb around. And I make no apology, it is usually in response to some simlarly toned post. Treat like with like. Funny how I seem to disagree with TyldesleyLatic (for one) on many issues but neither of us feels the need to engage (often) in sarcastic slagging.

As for my main point do you really think that JayT can go into a room with a Premier League football manager and ask in the tone they are couched…

… and expect the guy to give you a polite answer? JayT is there to ask your questions and have them answered. He is not there to antagonise a respected (by many) figure in football and make possibly make an @rse of himself in the process.

You are perfectly entitled to have those questions asked. I would just suggest you find a way to ask them in a more polite and less antagonistic manner. You all come across as so aggressive; and I’m not buying it’s because you are more angry than us because you love the club more than we do.

I don’t think your ‘because if you have any knowledge of football at all you would not have signed him’ addition is valid, as he was signed by Bruce, long before Martinez arrived, so your comment would suggest that neither Bruce nor Martinez have any football knowledge. (Or maybe John Benson is behind it all.)

He hasn’t set the world alight, but if Bruce AND Martinez saw something in him, then perhaps there are better things to come. If Martinez had no option but to sign him, then maybe not.

With Graham Barrow, it’s an old cliché, but coaches and assistant managers don’t necessarily make good managers. There are endless examples of this.

Without trying to sound patronising, your other questions are valid enough and could be used to get a decent insight if you rephrase them and slip the phrase ‘In your opinion….’ in there. If you ask an aggressive question, you generally get a defensive answer, and the discussion stops there immediately.

1. given that our midfield players seem to be very slow in getting forward to support the lone striker, what instructions are each of our 5 midfield players given in terms of going forward ?

As a fence sitter I have to say that whilst loudmouth’s style of questioning aligns with his username, the nature of his questions are valid.

I’m very keen to understand why Roberto thought it wise as an unproven top flight manager to be supported by coaching staff who have less management experience and success than himself.

I can understand him needing players (e.g Gomez, Scotland) who support him the dressing room, but surely a wise old prem head amongst his coaching staff wouldn’t have gone amiss?

I’d also like to understand why he’s afraid to change his style of play just to suit his principles. It’s clear that not all of our players are suited to a passing game – in the interests of survival shouldn’t he play to their strengths rather than stick to principes that aren’t working?

Thirdly, can he explain his comments that losing by 1 or 4 goals doesn’t matter. It’s clear that GD will play a part at the end of the season…did his comments affect the players into thinking it didn’t matter if they shipped 3-4 more after going 1 or 2 nil down? Did he not look back at some of the previous seasons of our and others survival through GD and goals scored?

Yes, I agree. It is my understanding that Roberto has agreed to a question and answer session, not a public lynching
