Battered ’em. Couldn’t score though. Moses was quality, ripped them apart, McManaman is already better than Hugo. Gomez had one of his away performances, ie away from the boos and played very well.
We actually did well considering we played what id class as a second string and they had pretty much a first team out there. Mike pollitt had little to do really. lopez at the back looked not too bad apart from giving elmander a one on one after ten seconds. Has at least some pace aswell so could be handy. Moses did well on his return but wasted some good chances to create and score, was in behind their right back on a few occasions and didnt have an end product. Jordi gomez was dross. Some decent touches and passes but his work rate isnt enough even if hes more of a creative player. Wont jump for headers either and doesnt create. Calum mcmanaman was fantastic, chases and gets his foot in and had some decent shots. Deserves a league start no question on effort alone.
oh and we still dont beat the first man from corners but some things will never change
Moses and Macmanaman played well – bet they don’t start Tuesday though. Come on Bob surprise us freshen it up. Weve got the players play them!
Made Bolton look shoite today. Restricted them to half chances and controlled for lots of the game. Moses quality, got tired in second half and mcmanaman deserves a start in the premier league. Might keep some of our players on their toes.

I can’t believe somebody has said that Gomez was dross. It just shows a closed mind and a prejudging attitude. In the first half he split Bolton’s defence open time and again. If somebody is judged to be dross because they can’t tackle then it’s a sad state of affairs.
Got to agree Gomez had a decent game as did Lopez who wont have come up against players like Davies and Elmander that many times before
Gormez did sum good touch’s but also did give the ball away,strikers even tackle if he cant he should’nt be on the pitch.
Gomez played at least two passes that no one else at the club would even have imagined; lets leave the tackling to the thick gets and let the clever players do the clever stuff.
Come to think of it, we should probably rename the dark/light side factions as cloggers/passers.
Gomez also took more than his fair share of stick from the opposition.
In the interests of fairness, he also inexplicably gave the ball away a couple of times but hey, nobody’s perfect are they?

Well said griff, does messi do a lot of tackling? Does Kaka? Creative players are not there to tackle!

My own personal opinion of Gomez is that he lacks the speed of thought & body to be a success for us at this level & the occasional good pass doesn’t make up for that
I also think that there’s a very good reason why the manager who bought him & announced to some fanfare that he was going to be the creative hub of the team, first backtracked & said he only wanted to ease him into action over the first season & now only plays him if he puts out scratch sides in the cups or we have an injury problem – i.e. he aint good enough
That said i by no means think he deserves some of the stick he gets on here & at matches
