Well lets just hope he stands by us then and turns down big money to go to some big club ! If he goes he becomes a mercenary and his loyalty to the club he says he loves goes flying right out that window ( Choose any you want ! )

What did I say about him that was tantamount to disloyalty ? Am I a pariah for having doubts about what he was trying to achieve when all did not look too good ? The season has been saved granted but on the whole it was shit ! The way the lads ( Not just Martinez ) have improved beyond doubt has made up for the shit part and so all is well. I am one of those who did NOT want us to go down just to prove a point but what I will say is all of this will mean fuck all if he goes FACT !

Honestly Filmoss let it go and admit that you should have had faith in bob all along. The day bob leaves you will rate him as a failure or disloyal, in fact bob has shown love and loyalty to this club and when he goes the faithful will wish him well.

Just joined .. love the spirit show by everyone involved with this team … from the Supporters, players, management and board!
How the owner/board has backed Martinez, and he in turn backed the players and they have delivered. Also love how Martinez does not take any glory in the victories, instead always heaping praise on the players!
I also hope next year, they can push on to mid table.

What I will say is congratulations to Bob it has only taken you two and a half seasons but he finaly seems to have found a system that suits our players.

So he planned for us to be shite for 90% of the season knowing that this superb run of results was coming??? If he had stuck with his original master plan we would have been doomed but he changed the formation and it worked. If you read any of my previous posts you will find most of them asked why Bob didn’t try something different when it was obvious his system didn’t work. He did and look what happened, may be he does look on this board after all ;)
He did try to introduce this earlier in the season but it wasn’t working. Much as I like Dave Jones he wasn’t a wing back and it was not until Bousojour joined and Maloney reached the level of fitness required that it started to work.

I take it the presence of a winky smiley is an admission that what you typed is an absolute crock of shyte and you know it?
For a start, your change of formation suggestions almost exclusively involved going 442 with the rest of the Luddites. Still, facts… story… getting in the way of… and all that, eh?
whelan was on GMR this morning and he stated that Bob will only go to a really big club abroad .. maybe in the next two years… so thats reassuring .. for now … lets enjoy next season and the mid table safety that we should reach !!
Fantastic turnaround and all credit to Robbie and the playing staff for 1 of the prems greatest resurrections.I never saw it happening and I doubt truth be known neither did many more.A lot of posters have analyzed our recent staggering improvement ( including myself) and the ” we knew he’d do it all along crew ” and there is no definitive reason .IMO it was probably a mixture of confidence,tactical tweeks,a couple of personnel additions and the real threat of relegation finally dawning on some players whose individual performances greatly improved.In his sky interview Gary Caldwell stated that he thought they were very poor for most of the season and needed to start much better next season and not have to go down the same road again.Whatever instigated this improvement may it continue, and lets hope Mr Whelan slackens the money belt to give Robbie a few quid to add to his squad ,something methinks he richly deserves .

stayed up with one game to spare, absolute brilliant, got to give credit to Martinez and the team, not been his biggest fan but he has proved me wrong again, just hope he keeps proving me wrong, Which i have no doubt he will if he can add to the squad, well done wigan athletic, goodpost
So it would appear that this was all part of the master plan from the day of his arrival ! In my opinion it has all been a learning curve for him and he has tweaked things and dropped certain players and brought in others etc. I don’t know if anyone has noticed but the team and formation has been pretty much the same since it clicked ! I admitted on here that I had warmed to him when he changed things but still got berated ! We as a collective on match days have never given him a hard time and even after all those months without a home win there were no protests or banners or the like.Booing was evident on many occasions but hey all fans boo their team when they play direly and we did have some pretty dire home performances ! Even the likes of Arsenal boo, booing has been a way of the paying public showing their disapproval or contempt at entertainment venues for many many years now and will always be evident when the masses become disgruntled ! The final third of this season has however made up for the poor rest of it but if this improvement does not continue ( I said the same at the end of last season ) it will mean nothing. I am not knocking RM as some seem to think because they actually enjoyed the wedge that had been firmly driven between the two warring parties and they seem to want it to continue ! We have survived by the skin of our teeth again and with hindsight one can say that it is more exciting than a dull meaningless mid table finish but I would have rather us been more consistent throughout the season but that’s just my opinion !
Well reading through these posts which have gone off topic some what I think it is fair to say that we all wanted survival in the end and we have achieved that

Whereas the Lightsiders claimed that Bob was doing a great job and a change of formation would make no difference Not quite correct Hindley. Most lightsiders said he was doing great things at the club, but not necessarily on the pitch.
Nor did anyone say the formation was working – far from it. In fact, I know at least a couple of the lightsiders who thought Martinez should vary the formation from time to time. The issue was with people banging on about how changing to 4-4-2 would solve all the problems.
