Somebody’ll get the
hairdresserhairdryer treatment if he does10 April 2014 at 2:03 pm #129713Aaron Ramsey is set to start for Arsenal in Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final against Wigan. The 23-year-old midfielder was a substitute on his return to the squad after three months out in last weekend’s loss to Everton while Lukasz Fabianski will start in goal.
But manager Arsene Wenger says Kieran Gibbs, Tomas Rosicky and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are all doubts while Mesut Ozil could be back next Saturday and Laurent Koscielny could be back for Tuesday.
“I’m expecting everyone to contribute because we have a lot of experience. We have played great games in the FA Cup” said Wenger. “We are still in a position where we can have a good season and that’s what we’re focusing on.”
10 April 2014 at 4:35 pm #129721Arsenal have two important games coming up – the semifinal on Saturday and a Premier League game against West Ham on Tuesday.
Wenger’s choice has been limited recently by injuries, but Ramsey, Gibbs, Ozil and Diaby are all just about ready to return. Saturday, however, may be too early for some of them to start a match.
There are likely to be some unfamiliar faces on the bench, and perhaps on the pitch too. Bellerín and Sanogo are young players; Viviano (28) and Källström (31) are more experienced.
Arsenal can still field a strong first team, but their confidence may be low after poor results recently.
Likely Possible Doubts
Fabianski
Sagna Mertesacker Vermaelen Monreal/Gibbs/Bellerín
Arteta Cazorla Ramsey Ozil/Källström/Diaby/Oxlade-Chamberlain/Rosicky
Giroud Podolski
I assume Szczesny is being rested for the cup tie. Flamini is suspended for two games.
Koscielny is injured, but could return on Tuesday. Wilshere, Walcott and Gnabry are still injured.
Substitutes; GK Viviano, Defender Jenkinson, Forwards Sanogo and Miyaichi. Miyaichi was in the Arsenal squad to play Bayern Munich, but was found to be ineligible. So Arsenal had only six substitutes.
10 April 2014 at 8:31 pm #129733Wigan are prepared to take a leaf out of Everton boss Roberto Martinez’s book once more as Uwe Rosler aims to shock Arsenal.
The Gunners head to Wembley with their confidence shredded by a 3-0 defeat to Martinez’s Everton on Sunday, when the Merseyside outfit ruthlessly exposed Arsenal’s vulnerable side to blow open the race for fourth in the Barclays Premier League.
It was a loss which Rosler admitted provided him with “good pictures” ahead of his own side’s last-four meeting with Arsene Wenger’s team this weekend.
“There were good pictures for me to learn from and also take one or two things on board, like I did with Manchester City in the last round.”

10 April 2014 at 9:32 pm #129736Barnsley, you’ve just (selectively) copied & pasted this from Sky Sports ……….. why? Shouldn’t you at least acknowledge the re-production by way of a link?
11 April 2014 at 3:13 am #129766Barnsley, you’ve just (selectively) copied & pasted this from Sky Sports ……….. why? Shouldn’t you at least acknowledge the re-production by way of a link?Alright there Mr Moonay, how’s it hanging?
You have been away too long my old mate, he has taken over as our regular ‘newsnow’ roving reporter.
However, he doesn’t claim any of it to be his own work, but on the other hand rarely acknowledges the source either.
It’s all harmless, and sometimes we find out interesting facts and snippets when we can’t be arsed trawling through loads of websites.
His main downfall however is his love for all things Everton since Mr Negative, boring, sideways, backwards and very rarely forwards Martinez jumped ship.

They’re not my words. And I haven’t actually spoken to Uwe about the way Martinez plotted the downfall of Arsenal.
In fact, I’ve cut and pasted it from the ITV Sport pages. The giveaway was the penultimate line – that’s the last but one;

I thought that would be enough to tell people of average intelligence where it came from.
Sorry, but I can’t say where Sky Sports got the story from.
11 April 2014 at 3:38 am #129768Awreet Horc …… Our previous – but one – Manager was God ……you & Lostyercock are just too “intellectually challenged” to understand ! ;)
Can’t believe we’re darn sarf again on Sat’day …..missing opening do at Cricket Club….. you’ll have to nip down some time ……. not playing any more, so mostly behind the bar ….YES – BAR !!!
Massively impressed with our new manager (then again, being an ex City fan, I would be ;) )
By the way ……. Went up to Wasdale last year for Willie Lee’s 50th ……. visited Ben Ullock ! (Didn’t camp …….stayed in hotel in Strands ;) )
11 April 2014 at 3:53 am #129769I will definitely nip down to the Cricket Club this season and see all the old faces.
Me and our Maude went to Wasdale a year or two back, it brought back some great memories. I wish I could take my ale as well now as we seemed to be able to back then.
Hotels are the way to go, that camping lark plays havoc with the old back.Wembley again eh!! Who’d have thought it possible all them years ago when we were chuffed to get a ‘big club’ in the third round.
‘Interlectually challenged’ I’ll see you outside Annies’ Chippy if there are any more comments like that.
11 April 2014 at 4:39 am #129770I bet you and Hailwood cant catch fish either. Did your sister marry the Howser?
11 April 2014 at 12:21 pm #129774I bet you and Hailwood cant catch fish either. Did your sister marry the Howser?Awreet Ste, We never could ……. caught one once though, and it were thiissss bigggg !

14 April 2014 at 12:36 am #129863There are likely to be some unfamiliar faces on the bench, and perhaps on the pitch too.Arsenal started with Sanogo. Their subs were;
01 Szczesny
12 Giroud
25 Jenkinson
28 Gibbs
29 Källström
37 Akpom
42 EisfeldArsenal seem to have exhausted their squad of players, and their strikers seem as likely to score as ours.
Now sitting in fifth place, they play West Ham on Tuesday. Roberto will be watching with interest.
