When the ball hit the back of the net last night. True it was hardly vintage football but it could have been 4 nil if lady luck had been with us. The officials were awfull yet again and Oxford played some spoiler tactics at time which didnt help but first the news of Shrewesbury going one nil down then our two strikers combining to win it was an amazing feeling.
COYL.18 April 2018 at 11:26 am #168310I said the same to my mate.. immense relief at finally scoring, Oxford are by far one of the worst spoilers i have ever seen … and what was that farce at second half kick off ?? ref should have just played on
18 April 2018 at 12:03 pm #168316Well the spoiler tactics never worked in the end. I loved it after we scored how they soon speeded up, & even one of our ballboys was walking at snail pace to retrieve the ball at one point.
18 April 2018 at 12:06 pm #168318I think we are already up. Shrews lost their centre half to injury last night and had horrendous luck over the past few weeks with injuries and suspensions. I can’t see them getting 9 points. I’m desperate for us to take the title now COYL
18 April 2018 at 1:30 pm #168320COYL ?, thank f#ck you left the E off the end.
Robinson came with a tactic don’t concede with no intentions of trying to win the game. If I were an Oxford fan travelling all that way id be disgusted at the way he set his team out. I mean, their keeper was wasting time from the 35th minute, what a joke.18 April 2018 at 2:00 pm #168322Typical Robinson tactics… Charlton at home & then Oxford last night were two of the worst games I’ve seen for a while and all down to his tactics.
Watching him last night and he kept gesturing to his team to slow things down… Gobsh !te.18 April 2018 at 2:54 pm #168324Surely that is good management on his part Jimmy?
He came here with a Charlton side ravaged by injury and got a point and he very nearly did last night as well.
Why would he come here, open the game up and try to play free flowing football? They’d have got hammered.
What we need to do is find another way to break sides down that do that. Our home form hasn’t been as good as our away form for that reason.

It is to be fair Egg, and I did say last night that he’s getting the better of Cook tactically in the sense he’s managed to frustrate us & go away with a point. That was before we scored by the way.
I’m no manager but I could predict beforehand the likely outcome of this game. So I was hoping we’d have played with two up front from the off.18 April 2018 at 3:33 pm #168336Surely that is good management on his part Jimmy?

I think it was right to stick to our usual set up at first. It was obvious it wasnt working & his gamble paid off.
Good decision too, to bring on devante cole. He impressed me in his brief cameo. He could have been greedy & gone for goal himself, but fair play to the lad for squaring it to grigg. He was actually a tad unlucky not to get a goal himself at the end.
18 April 2018 at 3:58 pm #168339Was a great feeling seeing the goal come up online. Sadly I can’t go to midweek games due to working away, I suspect the feeling wasn’t quite as strong as being in the stadium!

He did time it well Runcorn, and I’m not being critical by the way, just saying. Although it would have been nice if he’d not kept us waiting for so long. My nails are shot at.
Cooks formation / tactics have obviously been the best of the lot so far this season.
Cole did really well and he showed composure to square that ball. I’d like to see him more. -
