No income from the lack of money through the turn-tiles. Turnout on Saturday was an embarrassment. Can’t blame DW for the lack of interest from the people of Wigan
I don’t see the point you’re making. Net spend in the Premier League is something like £1-2m. Compare it to Portsmouth or Hull, spending left right and centre with little to no basis or justification. They both went down, and they’re both struggling financially.
You don’t always need to spend a lot of money on a player for him to be worth it – look at Palacios and Valencia, and they’ve (to date) been sold on for £28m between them. Look me in the eyes and tell me that you would have been happy with us spending £16m on one player, I dare you.

Imo DW is to blame for the lack of interest from the people of Wigan. Since we got promoted we have sold all our best players and continue to do so. After 6 seasons in the Premier League we are in a worse position team wise than when we came up.Times are hard and people wont spend money to watch the rubbish we are turning out, you could let them in for free but if we loose every week they still wont go.
Bob was appointed by Whelan so he has to take responsibility for the shambles on Saturday. Come on Dave do the decent thing and sack this clown before we are getting less than 10k
spot on hindley, people wont go if you keep selling players, but the club wont survive otherwise
something as to give and i fear its starting already 2,000 down on gate ani guess this sat will be far worse
might be the begining of the end for us as a prem club
but the rise of the chubbies.
A lot of the players we sold wouldnt have joined us if we didnt sell them the dream of moving on to a bigger club.
If we didnt sell players to bigger clubs we would have a squad full of unhappy players who didnt want to play for the club.

How exactly is DW to blame for people not getting off their backsides, as far as prices go, he’s treated us like charity cases, and yet people moan about him not spending money. Do tell us how we are meant to survive at this level on people spending £13 a game to watch us without selling our best players. My only problem with the sale of players is that we have sold a few on the cheap imo.
No doubt some of those moaning about crowds and lack of spending were doing from the comfort of various pubs on Sat afternoon.
well abram if you have a choice between paying 13 quid to watch shyte or 13 quid to sit in pubs with a few friends and enjoy a good afternoon
it seems that is the prefared choice,
Bickymon, your argument about watching shyte = low numbers of Wiganers turning up. 2 games in last 18 months or so: WHU at home under Bruce and last season v Wolves (first game). WHU we were 7th or 8th and Wolves we’d just been universally praised for playing Villa off their own park…total attendance of home fans at both games approx 24K.
Surely there would be picket lines and petitions and all sorts, not just the internet death threats and pie boycott, if Whelan even so much as thought about getting involved in Wigan RL again.
You’d think that a rumour like this would have made the blood boil on the RLfans WW forum but from a quick scan i cant see a single mention. Strange that.
DW loves cash and the truth is neither club will ever make him any serious amount. For all the riches of the Premier League, the facts show making a profit is extremely difficult for even the biggest clubs with European add ons.

[/quote]What a ridiculous post Hindley. Yes we all know you’ve always been part of the anti-Martinez gang, but has this clouded your judgement so you’re now totally anti Whelan/anti reasoned thinking also?
So Whelan is at fault for selling all the best players, even though he’s trying to get the club debt free and self sufficient eh? Would you continue to pump your own money into the club when you struggle to sell all the tickets for every game even in your first Premier League season? But it is all Whelan’s fault that we don’t sell out every week. Maybe buy a couple of big name players and pay then a million each a year, and make £800k a year in extra gate receipts when you sell out? Yep, that make sense.
Martinez hatred aside, without Whelan doling his own cash out, if we don’t sell, we go bust. That simple enough for you?
Got told over the weekend that Whelan is trying to buy back into Wigan Rugby.
I don’t know in what position but it was from a very good source.
Does that mean that he is pulling out of Latics?
Has he had enough of (or can’t afford to) bankroll them?
Has he found a buyer for Latics?
More questions than answers I’m afraid.
We’ll have to wait and see.[/quot
Bankrolled your men for the last 10yrs,and well you know it seeing how you boast on RL websites
as to how little rent your club pay’s.You Numpty
