Just name one please and there have been hundreds of memoral occasions. Promotions, cup runs, giant killings, league games, cup finals owt.

I will kick of with Stafford Rangers in the FA Trophy semi- final replay at Oldham in 1973. Amazing to get to Wembley for the first time.

    We are the Wigan’
    The Wigan FC,
    We’re going to Wembley,
In seventy three. To the tune from Nutrocker.

    Fantastic.

AutoWindscreen final 1999, first ever visit to wembley beating Milwall by a late late goal from the understated Paul Rodgers. A grand day out. Worst a few months later losing in the playoffs to Manchester city.

my personal favourite was the plymouth argyle game when we beat them 3-0.was it in 85? springy was rocking and the green army did not like it up em mr mannering.it went pear shaped after that and a different player was sold every other week after that game.the defeat to bolton about 3 weeks later was painful.that was a quarter of a century ago and that scares me as it seems not that long ago?

Wrexham 2nd leg northern final AWS 1999. :)

Mansfield when we won Divison 3, argued with the wife at half time because she said we were shit, 2 minutes into the second half all was forgiven :)

Reading promotion day (No real pressure once we went 2 up) :)

Arsenal 2nd leg Carling Cup semi final – Didnt really enjoy the first 119 minutes but what a last minute

I’m impressed you lads can remember all these games. I know I went to many, many good (and plenty not so good) games but I can hardly remember any of them; I can barely remember what I was doing yesterday.

Anyway, for sheer tension and eventual enjoyment, I think I’d go for the Sheff United away game when we stayed up.

      Awe reet tash mon !

      1) Reading / promotion day; fabulous feeling.

      2) Stuffing the “system” by beating Arsenal in the 2nd leg of CC; so many different emotions in that game.

      3) Every win against Nob End; especially when we virtually sent them down at Deepdale.

            Arsenal in the CC definitely.

Finding out the big guns were playing and wondering how long we could hold on. Pollitt then saves a penalty and you start to think maybe this COULD be our night.

Three turned down penalties and a cracking free kick from Van Persie later and we’re heading out. People texting me saying how unlucky we had been. My response being that I wasn’t bothered about going out as the lads had done me proud. It was the way we were going out that was upsetting me more (see the three stonewall penalties). The rest is history. OLE! OLE! OLE! OL…SH!T!!!

Think I might watch that game again on DVD later :D

Beating Brentford at Wembley in 1985 I just wish we could have kept the same team for a couple of seasons they were the best team in my opinion, who dismantled the side was it Hamilton

I remember Good Friday against Port Vale when I was a kid, probably around 78 or 79.

I think we were losing 3-0 with 20 minutes left.

On comes the unpronounceable and very Scottish George or was it Frank ? Urquhart and bingo !

Remember the 99 Hokey cokey cup final too, my lad’s first ever football match. Crap game, great result, much intimidation from our Millwall friends

” Our supporters are not animals, their enthusiasm only results in violence as a result of immense provocation” (I ludicrous – 3 english football grounds)

Everything LHL said: Reading, Arsenal and sending Preston down, scoring the 100th goal against them in the process.

For atmosphere, and a cracking nerve-jangling match, West Brom away in the Championship promotion season was a good one, too. And, for total football, Southampton away in FA Cup around 1985. Though that all went pear-shaped in the second half.

Ooops. Can’t count to one either.
