I think most have hit the nail on the head in whats required in a manager on the field, which is fine. I’m looking at the bigger picure in terms of off the field as well.
I do think it is imperative we get someone in that can manage the club within the budget constarints we have. Absolutely, but I also think we need someone that can coach players too, be able to get the best out of what we’ve got and change it when necessary. But he must be able to recognise the rigt players we need to bring in too.Good Contacts
We we also need is a manager with good contacts. We’ve lost eight players so far, with probably 3 more to go? Thls is why I think we’ll need someone that has this in locker with abundance, much more than say his football ideology?
Someone like Muelensteen from UTD for example. He’ll have an idea of the players that are good enough for the Championship and that woulld/could come to do a job for us, lads that are surplus, loanees, permanent deals or whatever. They’re only down the road too, so uprooting sticks isn’t a problem. First team football is the lure.
Ofcoure the final say is with Moyes on this, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he has already bent Moyes’ ear about the above now anyway. Utd’ player pool is massive compared to ours.
As a coach, I’m sure he’d be looking at maybe bringing some of our youngsters through the ranks too? This young keeper Lee Nichols we had out on loan at Northampton, he’s got to be give a chance as no2 hasn’t he? I think so, a mixture of youth and experince is paramount.
12 June 2013 at 6:10 pm #115904Well you never see a bookie driving around in a Ford Focus. There bringing in Carl Robinson, in some places now 2/1.
plus he’s a scouser so mega tight on the purse strings.
12 June 2013 at 6:36 pm #115905You will all know soon, the press have been told to make space for an announcement press conference on Friday.
Talks with TWO of the shortlisted group and their agents are taking place today/tomorrow about contracts and they will be told who was successful on Thursday afternoon.
edit
I forgot, we have also made our first player signing, a long term target, this will be announced after the new manager is in place. ;)

I actually know a former bookie who drives a Ford Focus will that do?
This “bookies sitting on a mountain of gold” milarkey is rubbish, its only the big bookies that have that many different shops that it offsets their losses and balance out to a tiday profit.
Run your own independent bookies and you could be bankrupt after one race if you choose not to lay your bet on (place a safety bet at another bookie).
Hence independent bookies are no more.
