Taken from an article about Maloney signing a new contract…
“Macclesfield fans were invited down to the Moss Rose ground yesterday to help clear the playing surface of snow, ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup fourth-round tie against Latics.”
22 January 2013 at 4:08 pm #100919I’ve checked their official site and they seem really confident the game will go ahead. The pitch is not a problem according to their ground manager and the fans are clearing snow from the terraces, not the pitch.
From what’s being said on their official website + their main fans forum I’m quietly confident the game will go ahead. It’s in their best interest to do all they can to get it on but they’re definitely insisting the pitch will be no problem whatsoever.

I’ve had this in mind for a few days, actually.
I checked the forecast and the temperature for Friday-Saturday and it has given it to go below freezing, so I do reckon the pitch will be frozen and the game will be off.
And then there will be lots of tickets for sale on here by folk who can’t make the midweek rearranged game.

A mid week game would probably suit me better tbh as I could get the gf to drive me :)

Let’s hope so

22 January 2013 at 4:57 pm #100929Difficult to say what the chances are of this game getting called off. Ordinarily I would have said that there would be no chance of the game going ahead but they did manage to play at Moss Rose on Saturday after the heavy snowfall on the Friday
Also, I’m told that the snow acts as an insulator & prevents the ground freezing up so if they time the clearing up right they could be okay.

To be fair, the snow is melting pretty good. It’s the freezing temperatures at the end of the week (that they’ve predicted) that are the concern.
It has given more snow for Thursday, I think. I hope not. Best thing would be for it to warm up a bit and pour down with rain. Incidentally, it has given showers for Macclesfield on Saturday.
Barring a big freeze on Friday night/Saturday morning, I think it will be ok.
22 January 2013 at 5:09 pm #100933A lot more snow forecast for Friday, apparently. Could be touch and go…

Nice to meet you Saturday spalding, shame about the result. If it was to be called off will they allow you to use same ticket or will it need to be picked up?

No I think it should all be well with the ticket.
We will have to meet up again for a quick scoop so you can explain where the jamesc comes from ;)
22 January 2013 at 10:09 pm #100945Will be user if the game is of as I have paid over the odds for a ticket and am traveling a long way to be there also it will be a shame for those fans who will be attending their first away game for ages if not there first even

It’d best not be off otherwise I will have wasted booking a hotel room and I won’t be able to make the replay because of a holiday. From a Macclesfield point of view, if the game did get postponed, would they then not have the possibility of getting a televised game?
22 January 2013 at 11:19 pm #100949There’s more chance of messi signing of us than our game getting called off.
