Mighty – let me try to explain this then.

First of all Gomez is not good enough at this level, couldn’t agree more.

However, yesterday there were people queuing up to slag him off before he had even made a mistake. They are the people I am having a go at, those who from the evidence I have seen with my own eyes, can’t seem to form their one opinion but simply join in with the bloke a few seats down.

Thats as good a way as any of creating a scapegoat.

I must admit I think Gomez isn’t good enough for the Premiership. However I felt sorry for the guy yesterday. It isn’t his fault he ain’t good enough. It’s Martinez fault for keep playing him. It’s just like anyone at work getting promoted into a job you aren’t equipped to do. Yet your boss keeps you in there. What would you do Pack it in? No doubt the lad is unhappy here, as he must know he isn’t up to it. I bet he can’t wait for a move to a club at a level where he can fit in. Hopefully this month.

Were the cheers at his substitution aimed at Gomez or at the incompetent Martinez?

My cheers at him going puff were aimed at Martinez as he realized a player who is rubbish in his preferred position is even worse trying to play the role of our only attacking threat.

What are we going to do if N Zogbia leaves? Will we ever cretae a chance again?

Martinez is the one the crowd are angry at, no Gomez. Martinez signed him, defends him, keeps playing him….

Martinez please leave for the good of the club.

If he sells NZogbia in January he may as well just admitt that he has given up on us. After watching that rubbish today i dont think we will score another 10 goals if NZogbia is not in team. Why does Martinez insist on playing Gomez? No heart whatsoever, i dont mind players being crap but please show a little effort.

Gomez was nothing short of ‘impressive’ today.

Why should he show heart when the fans are so fickle towards him ?

The ironic thing is that in a first half were we were total shyte in every dept., Gomez along with TC was actually the best of a totally inept bunch. I came out with this comment then waited to be jumped on and was surprised that everyone agreed with me.

He made 4 or 5 good tackles, won about 3 headers and got us a couple of free kicks. Apart from the couple of Cleverley runs can anyone remember any positive contribution from the rest of that shower?

Its not Gomez’s fault he is being played in that wide position. For me it was the totally wrong game to play Gomez, with henchman Barton and thug Nolan running the midfield James Mac would have been the right man from the start and once again we improved when he came on.

To cheer when one of our players is subbed makes you nothing short of vvankers in my mind.
If you disprove just keep your gobs shut, it makes a lot more sense and keeps the whole thing at a grown up level.

I have watched the majority of games this season and in my opinion, Gomez performs far better in away games. Newcastle and Blackburn away spring to mind. In both those games I think he played central, just behind the striker. I think fans accept a slower pace of play away from home. In those first 20 minutes at Newcastle he played a big part in silencing the crowd. At home, when we are expected to win, the crowd will get on his back and you can see the confidence being drained from him. Add to that the fact he is coming into the team for a player who is completely different (and far superior) will not help his cause. Martinez made a mistake yesterday, unfortunately, he has seen the ‘Gomez effect’ on home performances before so you worry whether he will ever learn!

I’m a little bored at the moment and have just got my fishing tackle together for a session tomorrow. So, not having a lot to do I decided to have a mooch on this thread.
I prefer to keep my opinions for the ‘Brick debating society’ these days for fear of airing them on here might lead to someone beating me up.
Anyway there is one very knowledgeable sage, his opinion of himself, not mine, further up this thread mentioning that Calderwell is not very good.

            I rest my case. :?
