Kenny Swain finished 3 places above the relegation zone and had just under a season in charge.

Roberto Martinez has constantly been in and around the bottom three for two and a half years.

    Slightly different divisions.

assface!! yes swain was bad but only one season to be bad abnd now is in the england setup, so not doing too bad . martinez cant go any further so should resign cos if next 2 games show same results i believe he will be replaced, chris hutchins had a bad record lost six on trot but only had 13 games in charge and he was sacked. and as for watching only from premier league, wrong i am 54 and used to go with my dad springfield park when i was 6 in 1963 in lancashire combination, 1966 in northern premier league through the 70’s even tho i started to support liverpool as most wigan fans supported a “big” club as well i followed wigan thru the football league and was there when wigan won the first promotion under larry lloyd so eat it assface

At 54, isn’t it about time you grew up then?

Oh, and the 30th anniversary thread is where you can wave your willy about how long you have been a fan.

I will be waving my willy if we beat Fulham. B)

When I wasn’t lounging round wasting tax payers money as a student, I was at the forefront of the “Swain Out” movement but with the benefit of hindsight, to call him our worst ever manager is a little unfair.
Yes he got us to our lowest ever football league position & I had Latics as nailed on for relegation to the conference in his 2nd season the club really didn’t have a pot to pish in at the time – sure I remember reading a story that at one point during his reign the club couldn’t even afford to buy paper for the fax machine. Bobby doesn’t know how good he’s got it budget wise compared to then.
True, Barrow got the same team performing better with a few tweaks here & there but then he couldn’t produce the goods when given a bigger budget by Whelan (the memory of him spending all summer haggling with Exeter over some fella with a surname like Cecere when he wouldn’t go higher than £10k despite having a substantial “warchest” springs to mind)

For me the worst manager would have to be John Deehan – got us promoted but with the budget he had he’d have been hard pressed not to but some of his tactics & team selections but Bobby’s against Bolton well & truly in the shade:
6 at the back away at Walsall
Completely changing his side for a good friday/easter saturday game away at bristol Rovers in the 2nd div when the club could still have made a (somewhat hopeful) late push for the play offs, getting whalloped 5-0 & then bringing them all back for a game a few days later against Burnley & winning & then saying his selection against Bristol had been justified coz he was no longer concerned abotu relegation
Dropping his top scorer (David Lowe) & Kevin Sharp (for Steve Morgan), playing Jones up front on his own and putting Smeets & Lee on opposite flanks to normal for a cup game at Blackburn. Going 4-0 down, bringing his top scorer on & switching his wingers back to their correct flanks, pulling 2 goals back & should have had a penalty – then saying after the game that his initial selection was justified coz we didn’t concede from any corners

Man i could go on all day about that clueless g!t. Makes me realise how good we’ve got it now with Bobby!!!! ;) ;) ;) goodpost

Aye, but you’ll be giving it a proper old tug instead if we don’t though, won’t you?

Why would i do that. I don’t want us to go down like anyone but if this is all we are in for every year. A boring season winning 3 at home and just hoping to scrape survival then i would rather be in the championship or lower. get some glamour back into the cup games and be in a division where there is a chance to see your team try to win without relying on over paid dross.

Well, as you’re convinced that’s going to happen anyway, why don’t you just leave your miserable drivel until next May and then you can come back with a smile on your face and tell us how clever you are by predicting that a team with no money, bereft of depth and quality, and no fans got itself relegated from a billionaire’s playground, six years after it should have done.

And I’m still right. If we lose on Saturday, by 5 o’clock you’ll be pulling yourself round the living room and come (pun intended) quarter past, you’ll no doubt be on here with your usual ‘told you so’ nonsense.

Don’t want us to go down? Give over! You’d give yourself RSI in delerious ecstacy if we went down ;)

It is going to happen. With that clown in charge it is.

And it’s ok i will just keep letting everyone know every week after every defeat that we are going to be relegated. We should not have been relegated 6 years ago because we played good football 6 years ago. It is not hard to do again if the tight arse chairman put his money in his pocket for decent players and a decent manager rather than name call the fans and comment about other clubs.

For half a season we played well 6 years ago. We’ve been crap ever since.

Tight-arsed chairman? Reeto, you’ve now joined the ranks of the not worth bothering with.

Wow… how anyone can say Martinez is our worst manager is unbelievable. How he is spoken of in the same light as some of the other managers names given is a joke. We are in the Premier League for a kick off playing against the best teams in the country!

Good post. Was never a fan of Deehan.

Kenny Swain BTW is the current England U16 Manager so can’t be that bad ;) (thankfully that era is before my time)
