No. Read what I said.
They are different jobs. One is to analyse what the opposition are doing. A completely different job is to decide what to do to counter that. He’s an analyst (maybe), not a fixer. That’s the job of the manager, taking his data from the analyst.
12 November 2016 at 11:09 pm #152398Its logic gl, you nearly always find that when a manager loses his job his backroom staff go also. Barrow comes as part of the job here .So maybe he’s good at what his part of the job is?
12 November 2016 at 11:58 pm #152400Barrow, Atherton and Parkinson are all ex players so I will always hold them in high esteem and I don’t want to see any leave the club its just I believe that a good manager generally has a good sidekick and I don’t see it happening here.
13 November 2016 at 1:22 am #152402It would have cost WAFC a fortune over the last few years in back room staff pay offs…
It’s fair to say it must be hard for a new manager working with non preferred sidekicks. He’s got to get his ethos across to two sets of people, and for both to sign up to, and in this day and age of time being a premium!!!
I’m sure Sharpy will be diligent with his back room staff observations over the next few months.

I would like to think Jimmy that we wouldn’t have had 5 managers had they brought in their own guys.
13 November 2016 at 7:18 pm #152411Scholes will join the Latics this coming week !
13 November 2016 at 7:51 pm #152412Scholes will join the Latics this coming week !Is this wishful thinking Ali or a real possibility?.
13 November 2016 at 9:12 pm #152413Scholes will join the Latics this coming week !Hopefully as player coach.
13 November 2016 at 10:51 pm #152416To do what sell programmes on’t Duggie bridge? He’s not got any coaching badges ffs!
Fuck the EFL
13 November 2016 at 11:07 pm #152417Barrow must be good at his job otherwise 5 Managers wouldn’t have agreed to work with him.

I’m not so sure about that NL, Coyle & Mackay were really poor / strange appointments.
14 November 2016 at 12:02 am #152421Warren Joyce should be allowed to bring in his own team, but I don’t see why there should not still be room somewhere in that team for club legend Graham Barrow. Leave the lad alone.
14 November 2016 at 4:06 am #152426If he stays it will be with the youth or academy as paul scholes is in line for coaching job
14 November 2016 at 2:39 pm #152432One point gl, the managers haven’t kept him on the board have. The managers have had no option but to work with him ……

What is the one common denominator during our plummet from PL to Div 3 ?
Yup, Barrow.[/quote]
Yes and he was also with the club when Martinez kept us in the Premier League and we won the FA Cup.The common denominator in our fall from PL has been sacking our managers.
How can Barrow have such a big influence on tactics etc, when he’s been at the club with Martinez, Coyle, Rosler, Mackay, an Caldwell?
You can’t tell me we played the same way under Martinez as we did under Mackay. Or that we played the same way under Rosler as we did under Coyle.
So to me that would suggest that Barrow has nothing to do with formation, style of play, tactics etc.
Like Garswood said, he must be good at something for the club to keep him on (they’ve not exactly been big on the loyalty stakes recently), and for every manager who’s worked him with say how important his role is.
But we do love a good scapegoat at Wigan and it seems that Barrow’s the latest one.
14 November 2016 at 2:52 pm #152433He probably is really good at what he does Standish but if it is nothing to do with the tactics etc then the manager still needs a number 2 something 5 managers have not had up to now. I have read a comment from Caldwell that they all went to look at players separately so maybe Barrow is seen as a decent scout.
