Wigan manager Roberto Martinez has confirmed midfielder Modeste M’Bami will not be joining the club.
The two parties failed to agree an acceptable deal.
The 26-year-old Cameroon international, who is a free agent after the expiry of his contract with Marseille, spent the last fortnight on trial with Wigan.
M’Bami was offered a short-term deal but wanted a longer contract, and the player is now thought to be close to a move to Spanish side Almeria.
He has 28 caps and seven goals for his country.
M’Bami, who was also linked with a move to Portsmouth, played in the Champions League last season for Marseille
If he can’t agree a deal then fine.
He may now go to Almeria. That’s presumably the Almeria that finished 11th in La Liga last season. Not exactly Inter Milan, Man U or Barcelona is it?
If he’d signed – then good. But if he doesn’t want to then so be it.
