Best forgotten……in it up 2 red. Still in it till 2nd . Moore outstanding ,long time since I’ve seen us with a forward so committed, constantly made himself available just a pity no one there to pick up his flick ons and lay offs. He certainly bodes well for the future. Isn’t that Cooks 2nd yellow ?

Moore was outstanding under the circumstances. Bryne redeemed himself from the Preston game
How could the ref spot Lowes handball from 50 yards and facing his back while the linesman was 7-8 yard away and level/in front of Lowe but kept his flag down.
That’s how poor it was. Got to be on par with Millwall for the ugliest fan’s on the planet. Leeds wont be there at the end. Asking players to go the end of their tether every game will only benefit other clubs

I’m sorry but I don’t agree. It was unfortunate that Williams got sent off but two yellow cards is two yellow cards and if the second is right in front of him, what can he do?
The ref could have given penalties at both ends and booked more players on both teams, Morsy escaped two very reckless challenges without a card. I didn’t think the ref favoured either team.

Its a shame a very good competitive game was spoiled for us on 20 minutes, but that wasn’t the refs fault, Williams shouldn’t have reacted to get sent off.

      I agree with you.
Yes, he was a poor ref who lost control of the game. But you are right that I thought Morsy could easily have gone too.
The ref was bad for both teams tbh and you know things are bad when both sets of fans boo you.
My big concern is that we didn’t have possession, didn’t press, and were rather toothless.
The ref was poor, but that didn’t lose us the game.

Awful referee, looked like he was really on a learning curve.

The red was a curious decision. He had already blown to give US a free kick, but before the play halted Williams went in and I think he did catch their man. Although he did roll around like a drama queen. I said “he’s already been booked as well”, but I didn’t think he would get another yellow there and then. Absolutely shocking. Don’t think we have ever had a free kick given us, and then had our man sent off!

As were the two goals we conceded, inside our own six yard box.

We got a penalty at Tranmere and had Liddell sent off. You were probably an Everton fan then though

We were equal for the first 20 minutes, then the sending off changed the game. Who knows, 11 vs 11 & we could have created possession, could have pressed & might not have been as toothless. When you’re down to 10 men, it’s so hard to play against 12.

Ive had a season ticket at Latics since 86. Bore off will ya, ffs.

First season was when Bobby Campbell had just signed. First game was last game of the season before, against Wolves. Won 5-3. Aspinalls last game. Two very different Latics sides, due to big changes that summer.

Wolves 86, was that when Graham Barrow chased off their fans?

Its no disgrace to lose to Leeds with 11 men let alone 10. It frustrates me that we’ve conceded from a corner three games running, and not scored from one this year. Cookie needs to sort it.

              Just watched the highlights.

I noticed that the referee was seemingly not doing anything to Williams after his foul…until the player turned and had his back to him with name and number.

Then, he seemed to see the opportunity, calling him back and giving him the second yellow, then the red.

If its right he is from Huddersfield, I sincerely hope the club kick up a fuss about it…a bloody massive fuss, because thats dodgy in the extreme.

Where will the Middlesbrough ref be from? Yarm? What on earth are the EFL playing at?

Just because he’s from a neighbouring town doesn’t mean that he would favour Leeds.
Huddersfield and Leeds are rivals: would you expect a ref from Preston or Bolton to favour us?
He was just out of his depth, and lost the plot. Nothing more sinister.

                Sorry but I cant agree.

How big is this country? And they had to have a referee from Huddersfield, officiating a game involving Leeds? Its the next town! Someone said that hos brother was/is a referee and wasnt/isnt allowed to officiate huddersfield, leeds, or Bradford matches. If thats right, our club needs to say something.

                If its true, it stinks.

                  I ask you again.
We have had refs from Bolton and Preston and they have been criticised for being anti-Wigan. What’s the difference?
Is “someone said” really a solid basis for a discussion?
                  I’ll tell you something.
Many people on here will know a very very good former local referee, Ammy League secretary/press officer etc, stalwart of the game. Rewarded with an MBE. Initials DO.
                  Mate of mine.
Told the tale that once someone accused him of being a cheat.
                  Instantly sent off.
Dave’s statement to him says what I think most, if not all (Tyldesley back me up on this) match officials think.
“Call me incompetent. That’s fine. You’re probably right.
Call me a cheat, then you are off. I do not cheat. I do not favour one team over the other. I do this unthankful job because I love the game, not to give one team or other an advantage.
I may get things wrong. In fact I do get things wrong. Frequently. And it worries me. But that’s my failing, not a deliberate act.
Never ever ever call me a cheat”
