the squad is really, really strong and we’ve got very good options – a lot of competition, it’s very good.

Are you one of those people who believe everything someone says? If so you are clearly not well and I think you should sign over everything you own to me for safe keeping.1 March 2011 at 2:51 pm #60875I actually dont think that the majority or the squad is that bad. The likes of Al Habsi, Alcaraz, Diame, McCarthy, Moses, Hugo, N’Zogbia, Boyce and Cleverly are all good players plus McArthur, Di Santo, Figgy can do a job. The problem is the formation/system that they play in and the man in charge of them. As I have said before the group of players we have here are not one of the worst three in the league
1 March 2011 at 3:11 pm #60876Compared to the rest of the division, no it’s not a particularly brilliant squad. Why do people think we are at the bottom of the league?
As for Bobby saying something contradictory, I suppose Mighty and LMB think he should have said “well of course we got beat 4-0, I have a bunch of w@nkers at my disposal and I’m a useless c***, too”
1 March 2011 at 3:37 pm #60877Paul Jewell used to, and still does, get castigated for accentuating the negatives. Roberto Martinez gets a going over for being too positive. You can’t please all of the people all of the time, but on here it seems you can’t even please some of the people some of the time.

The problem is the formation/system that they play in and the man in charge of them. As I have said before the group of players we have here are not one of the worst three in the leaguei think you’ll find quite alot of debate on whether Alcaraz & Diame are good players
IMO Alcaraz defends like a school kid & Diame is either lazy or unfit or both
Rodallega misses far too many easy chances
Moses hasn’t shown a anything like the consistancy needed to say he is a good player
On top of that I’m not sure what jobs Di Santo & Figueroa can do but they aren’t good onesMy own personal opinion is that Al Habsi, McCarthy, N’Zogbia & Cleverley are good players. The rest are either average, not good enough or have yet to prove one way or the other
Martinez & his system need to take a big portion of the blame for the team being bottom but the players need to hold their hands up & take responsibility too
Just takign Saturday’s game as an example I doubt it was playing 4-5-1 or Bobby’s instructions that made Moses fluff his 1on1 with Van de Saar. Nor was it responsible for Figueroa not paying any attention to the opposition player nearest to him for the opening goal, or Alcaraz following the ball instead of his man for the second. I doubt whether Bobby instructed his defenders to try & play offside from within the opponents half for the 3rd goal & i doubt Bobby had instructed Gohouri to watch the ball go over his head & then turn round & let the opponent with the ball have a free go at goal
All 4 goals were conceded because of basic things that the players got wrong & weren’t anything Bobby could have done a damn thing about aside from him being the bloke that bought (most of em) & picked em in the first place1 March 2011 at 3:56 pm #60879now now griff dont you go worrying yourself
i can understand bob saying i have a bunch of useless w@nkers
but why on earth would he call all you a useless cnut too1 March 2011 at 4:57 pm #60880Compared to the rest of the division, no it’s not a particularly brilliant squad. Griff – i would have fully accepted that statement if Bobby had made it. It is a fair reflection of his tenure. You see, the whole point of playing in a league (this one, or any other one to be fair) is to attempt to win it. I.e. to finish at the ‘top of the league’ as they say. The epitomy of failure in any league is to be at the bottom, something Bobby has managed to steer us to. Fair play to bobble head on his optimism though, or sheer lunacy, but either way, to be happy to be coming 20th out of 20th in any race clearly shows that the person in charge, and his team are not up to it. The league table does not lie.

Well done. You’ll find the point is somewhere over your left shoulder. You spectacularly missed it again.Oh, and if you’re going to use big boy’s words like epitome, at least spell them right, eh? Why not stick to less grown up, playground-type phrases like bobble head, or something?

He doesn’t really mean it when he says that, Bicky :naughty:1 March 2011 at 5:47 pm #60883Compared to the rest of the division, no it’s not a particularly brilliant squad. truth hurts sometimes griff !
to be honest i believe martinez thinks he is quite good at what he does, its the ever growing band of darksiders who think hes ” a useless c*** ”
thinking about that statement – if a growing band of “darksiders” start to become the majority,do they take on a new mantle and become the ‘new lightside’ ?

Leagues not over yet is it, and by your reckoning any team who hasn’t won the league at the end has failed?
